Althea - healing (Greek)

Andromeda - to be mindful of man. (Greek) Also, an Ethiopian princess rescued from sacrifice by the hero Perseus

Ariadne - the divine one (Greek)

Aristotle - the ultimate one. Also a prominent figure in Greek philosophy

Aquae - water. (Latin) Also eldest of the Dominion Children. Goddess of the waters

Butterfly - beings created by Nature

Brynhilde - powerful woman (Teutonic)

Caelum - sky. (Latin) Also second youngest of the original Dominion Children. God of the heavens

Cassius - vain (Latin)

Dark Magic - magic used for anything other than restorative, positive purposes with selfish intent; alteration of the Dominion Childrens original designs

Deirdre - brokenhearted (Celtic)

Dominion Children - 4 original gods. See also: Aquae, Caelum, Nature, Terra.

Druids - male witches, keepers of the gods/goddesses temples

Dryad - beings whose spirit inhabits particular species of trees. Typical appearance: Dark skin and hair, eyes reflect color of leaves at the turn of the season or, in females, color of flowers.   See also: Dryad Sap.

Dryad Sap - The sap taken from trees inhabited by the spirit of a dryad, and only when the dryad is present within the tree and so the healing property is created by personal sacrifice and pain.

Elsie - full of mirth (Anglo-Saxon)

Equus - Terra's horse that was a wedding gift from Nature.

Farida - special one (Syrian)

Faye - any of the beings possessing the power of speech and a direct lineage to Nature and the other Dominion Children

Festival of Stars - A butterfly festival dedicated to the Stars, but mostly their role in the union of Terra and Nature. Young butterflies and moths put paper stars with the name of their lover in the ever burning Stella brazer in the hope that the stars will unite the couple forever much like they once did for Terra and Nature.

Ignis Vitae - life fire. (Latin) Also original phoenix created from a shard of Caelum's soul

Isolde - female ruler (Teutonic)

Lorelei - luring rock (German)

Malignant - a dryad corrupted by Dark Magic. Malignants are trapped in their home tree, and so the tree is uprooted and becomes mobile. The connection between dryads and the dirt in which their tree grows is considered sacred so this is a particularly foul existence.

Moss Palace, The - the ancestral home of all butterflies. Also the residence of the Royal family

Moth - male butterflies

Nadine - hope (Russian)

Naiad - beings that inhabit currents of water. Made as a project between Nature and Aquae when Aquae desired her own "children." Typical appearance: blonde hair, blue to green eyes, porcelain skin.

Nature - Youngest of all the Dominion Children. Goddess of all living things. Wife of Terra

Natura Die Nuptiarum Terrae - Wedding of Nature and Terra. Also a parade celebrating the supposed wedding anniversary of Nature and Terra

Nobility - secondary Royals

nolie - slang for "No Life" in reference to inanimate creatures, plants, and objects unrelated or undescended from magical creatures

nullo - no (Latin)

Omnia - all. (Latin) Also original "Being". After the Origin Battle, her domain was divided among her four "children." Terra, Natura, Caelum and Aquae

Origin Battle - Caelum plotted betrayed Omnia in a desperate bid for power over his siblings. Terra, Natura and Aquae took Caelum's side after he lied and said that Omnia intended to bind the four of them forever to retain power. The siblings killed Omnia and divided her "Domain" amongst themselves.

Philena - lover of mankind (Greek)

Phoenix - eagle like birds who when in flight, their wings ignite. Seemingly immortal Descendants of a piece of Caelum's soul that was severed during the battle with the All-Mother, Omnia. See also: Ignis Vitae.

Royalty - Especially powerful members of the butterfly/moth population, descended from Nature's first Son

Solomon - peaceful (Hebrew)

Soror - sister (Latin)

stella - star. (Latin) Also an ever burning brazier prominent in the Festival of Starlight. See also: Festival of Starlight.

tellus mater - mother earth (Latin)

Terra - earth. (Latin) Also second eldest of the Dominion Children. God of the earth. Husband of Nature

Unicorn - horse like creatures with a single horn protruding from between their ears. Also descendants of Terra's horse, Equus
