My eyes flutter open only to see my room being lit up by the sunlight coming in through the window. I turn over hoping to catch a few more winks of sleep when yesterday's content slip through my mind. I sit up so fast that the room becomes a blur and I feel light-headed.
Ugh, I thought as I rub my temples.
My first thought is the boy from the alley, how I didn't even get his name. However, I didn't have the time nor the heart to think about that when he was hurt the way he was. He also told me that I didn't know who or what he was to be trying to help him, but I didn't care - until he shoved me away from his nearly destroyed body. His leg was lying helplessly on the concrete floor, the bones each turning in different directions tipped with blood. The scar parallel to his cheekbone was deep and also gushing crimson, yet he was able to stand up and fight as if nothing happened..
The clock on my nightstand lets me know that it's eleven in the morning. It's time to go through with my morning rituals.

With my hygiene taken care of, I can finally start my day. Todays outfit is a purple loose long-sleeve shirt with light gray skinny jeans along with purple low-top Chucks on a Sunday morning. I steal another glance at the clock and it says it's eleven fifty-nine and I can already tell it's a slow day.
I pull out my iPhone from my pocket and dial Ekira's number, then add her boyfriend to the call. Ekira answers on the first ring and Jacob picks up on the second.
"You guys," I say. "It's a Sunday, and we need to do something fun before another boring week of school!"
Ekira laughs saying "You so read my mind!" She pauses and says "Is Jacob on the line, too?"
Jacob sighs. "Of course I'm here babe, Leslie always knows to add me to the call."
"You already know Jacob," I tell him. "Hey Ekira, meet me at the mall in an hour?"
Jacob says "Do we have to go there?" while Ekira says "Of course."
They start arguing about it as I laugh. These two are crazy for each other! "See you in an hour." And I click.
I head downstairs and find my mother asleep on the sofa still. She can sleep like there's no tomorrow. This means that I have to cook breakfast. I pulled out 4 eggs from our small fridge and turn on the stove, placing a small pan over the fire. I let that heat up while I slice some thin tomato, onion, and ham. Those go in first to cook before I drop in the eggs and begin to scramble them around. In less than five minutes, breakfast is done, and I make her strong coffee. I wake her up by kissing her on the forehead and lightly saying 'Momma' like I used to when I was younger.
"Momma, wake up." I nudge her shoulders, and she wakes up.
Her eyes widen at the food and I can already tell that she's hungry. "Is that for me?" she asks.
"of course Momma, eat up," I smile.
We eat for about ten minutes and when I finish I get a call from my on and off boyfriend Adam. We've been dating for a while now, but he always breaks it off, and I'm the stupid one that takes him back everytime. He's such a flirt and I'm close to calling it quits; as Ekira says, I deserve better.
"Hello?" I ask.
I can hear a girl in the background. "Hey baby, how's your morning?" It's hardly audible but I can barely hear him say "Wait up, I'm about to do it."
"It's going great." I'm getting annoyed. "Who's that girl in the back? And what are you about to do?"
"That's great but I'm about to ruin it." He says in a sorta sad tone.
