"Brian is dead?", asked Laura again, knowing that the answer would stay the same.
Her mind was spinning, remembering what'd happened last night and calculating what will happen next.
She tried to ignore the crying Melanie and turned to Benedict. He was still in shock, something that she wasn't allowed to feel right now. She wasn't allowed to feel anything.
"Ben?"
He slowly looked down to her.
"Ben? Do you believe me?"
He blinked a few times. He didn't understand why she was asking him this.
"Ben."
"Yes...yes, of course."
A man who seemed to be the detective on this case, walked towards them.
Laura had to be quick.
"Ok Ben, listen to me, concentrate and listen to me!"
His questioning eyes wandered over her face, trying to understand what was just happening. Laura was calm on the outside, concentrated... But on the inside she was the complete opposite, hurt and crying, hoping he will understand and most of all, she was sorry.
"Okay, they will tell you that I'm not Laura Winter, they will tell you that I'm from the FBI, they will tell you a lot of things, some of them might be true but... "
Her time was running out. The detective was almost with them.
"Ben I know you have questions now but promise me not to believe them until I tell you the truth!"
"I..."
"Ben please!"
He shortly nodded. His mind was spinning, she could see that.
"Laura Winter?!", the deep voice of the detective and her turning to him, broke the bond of Laura's and Ben's eyes.
"Yes.", she said in a monotone voice.
"I'm sorry but you have to come with us."
A policemen handcuffed Laura.
"Hold on! Why are you doing this?! This isn't necessary!" Ben had his voice back.
"Oh it is Sir! Miss Winter you're under arrest for the murder of Brian Bennett."
"But..."
"It's okay Ben, really it is. Remember what I said, trust me!"
They brought Laura away. Ben stood there in shock. He looked after her. She turned around. Their eyes met. He couldn't really tell what she was thinking. But the feeling he got from her look wasn't good at all. All this wasn't good at all and confusing.
Her lips formed a "I'm sorry!"
What was going on?!?! His mind was spinning. Laura was the victim right?! Or was she playing with him?! No! Sure?! And why did she told him that they'll lie about her. What the fuck was going on?! Ben couldn't manage to catch an idea. He just stood there and stared at the corner, around which Laura has just disappeared.
"Sir?! Umm you have to come with us too. We also have a few questions for you, cause you were with Miss Winter."
Yeah! He had them too. But the only person who could possibly answer them was just lead to a police car, in handcuffs.
Laura Winter.... if that really was her name.

Laura sat in the police car. She closed her eyes and leaned her head against the cold glass of the window. It calmed her and she allowed herself for a few seconds to feel everything she'll have to swallow down in the next few hours or days. A few tears ran down her cheeks as she thought of Brian and Ben. She messed things up. But she wasn't the only one. The truth was much more complicated. And the worst thing of all this was that Ben was involved now. And it was all her fault. For the first time in a few years... since she and Brian were in a relationship, she felt loved and save. Ben brought out feelings in her, she thought she wasn't even able to feel anymore. She never felt like this with Brian. Mostly cause of the reason for their relationship. And now she destroyed every opportunity to feel like that again. She destroyed every opportunity she could have with Ben. He won't ever love her when she'll tell him the truth. If she even will be able to do that...
She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down and brace herself for the things that'll happen next, cause the police car slowly rolled on the parking lot in front of the police station.
