Intergalactic Space Encounters

An unbelievable travel to the beyond

Prologue

The isolation was unbearable. There was no hope of survival, no hope of escaping this unprecedented outcome. We had been betrayed by the ones we trusted with our lives. Sheer agony was burning at my insides. With a rugged cough, I hauled myself in seating position. I noticed Spencer sprawled out at my right. His eyes were wide open, pupils dilated. He looked at me and shook his hands, rather tried to, but was only able to move a finger. He pointed towards the craft, his blue lips forming illegible words. Whimpering, Spencer pointed even more vigorously towards the back of the craft and then, due to lack to energy he slumped back to the floor.

Spencer had great presence of mind.

I was exhausted; my lungs were unable to take in the toxic air. With great difficulty, I stood up, leaning on an alien rock. Pain shot through my legs and I nearly collapsed on to my knees. I looked down at the hammer hanging from my hip. I detached it from my belt and tied it to my ankle as a splint. Gripping the rock, I pushed myself back on my feet. I dragged my sore soles on the soft sand, limping my way back to the aircraft.

The deceiving, hot wind blew across my face, making me cough even more. I held on to the tail of the aircraft and caught my breath. I patted around the back, in search of the switch. Feeling dyslexic, I could only rely on touch to find the button. The switch had been specially made for the gravest emergencies, in case of life and death scenarios. In one last fleeting attempt, I clicked the button and buckled to the floor. If this wouldn’t be enough, nothing would. I felt myself getting lost in oblivion.
