I can't believe I nearly kissed her. So much for self-control. This was not part of the plan. The plan had been simple...apologize and get Sharon off my back and I ended up telling her how I felt.

Not that it  mattered anyway. I wasn't going to do anything about it.

Emily hurried downstairs without a backward glance. She left me no choice than to follow her so I did, in a leisurely pace.

I found both mother and daughter in the kitchen. They looked up at me from behind the counter with hands in grocery bags.

Ms Benson, Emily's mum raised an elegant eyebrow questionably. As for Emily...she looked comically surprised.

She was adorable.

She looked like she had forgotten about me and didn't know what to do so I bailed her out.
"Good day ma'am." I saluted with the most harmless smile I could muster.

" Robert, its been years?" Look how you've grown." She gushed and moved to hug me.

I was a little embarrassed, I hoped it wasn't obvious on my face. It had been years since I came over with my family for dinner.

"I came over to help Em with an assignment she had problems with. I hope you don't mind"  I said, when she let go off me.

"Of course I don't. You know you're always welcomed here...you know that, don't you?"

Guilt flushed through me. I've been avoiding Emily and everything that had to do with her like a plague.

"Yes ma'am. I know."

I took my leave and Emily saw me to the door.
"Assignment?" She whispered. Somebody finally found her tongue.
"You had a better idea?" I teased.

She rolled her lovely eyes at me. She turned to leave but I held her back.

"What now?" She asked in a strained voice. That gave me hope. She felt something for me.

I swallowed the uncomfortable lump in my throat before I spoke.
"Have you forgiven me for...?" I couldn't say it.

"For being a jerk all the time?" She concluded.

"You could say that. Have you?"

She was quiet.

"Sharon will expect an answer" I said. Yes I would use Sharon's name to get her to forgive me.

"Fine. I forgive you." She turned to leave but I stopped her again.

"What now?" She snapped. She looked impatient and annoyed.

"Don't I get a goodbye kiss?" I teased, smiling seductively.

"You wish", she said with a sexy smirk. I felt drunk off her smile. She went inside and shut the door with a wink.

It took a few seconds  to shake myself off the daze I fell in.
