Aurora's dress later in the chapter ;)

---

I stand up abruptly, leaving Rosalind's side to walk over to the window. Overlooking the beautiful city, I'm lost in my thoughts just as Rosalind is lost in her memories. I feel a mixture of emotions toward Deimos that I don't know what to do with.

He intrigues me in a manner only the Devil can.

"Why did you tell me all this, Rosalind?" I softly ask her, keen on keeping the blissful silence that took over my apartment. Keeping my eyes on the skyscrapers outside, I let my ears wait for her response.

"I believe you can help him come out of his shell. I see a connection between you and my Deimy, one that I've never seen with any of the women he's been with," I feel her gaze on me, and I can hear the hope in her voice. "I think you can break his emotional block, Aurora."

I let out a snort at her statement. I don't think she sees how much he hates me, and how much he frustrates me.

"I'm afraid you've been mistaken. The only connection between Deimos and I is our businesses, and that's not even going to happen anymore." I sit down next to her once again, looking her right in the eyes.

"What do you mean," Rosalind furrows her eyebrows, "weren't your businesses supposed to merge? I overheard Deimos' father talking about it on the phone." I let out a sigh and fall back into the couch, closing my eyes.

"Deimos did offer me the deal of the merge. After a few days, I was about to accept when he decided he wanted to withdraw the offer," I explain to her. It wasn't her fault she didn't know the details, but the whole ordeal was something I wanted to forget.

"That silly boy," Rosalind shakes her head and looks at her hands in thought. A moment of silence falls between us. I just stare up at the ceiling, not minding Rosalind's company; I get lonely some times.

"Aurora," her head suddenly shoots up, "you must try to get him to accept the merge again." Rosalind holds my hands in hers, staring up at me with her widened eyes. There is such emotion, such hope, in her eyes that simply pierces me.

"You and me both know, Rosalind, that will never happen," I tell her softly, clutching her hands. "If Deimos doesn't want to do something, he won't do it."

"Please," her eyes water up, and our previous conversation runs past me, "at least try."

"Rosalind, I-"

"I just want him to know happiness." At this point, a lone tear drops from her dewy eyes and my heart breaks at the sight of it.

Looking at her face, I can't find the willpower to deny her of what she wants. Her hands are nearly shaking around mine, and her face is full of desperation.

My mind rolls over and over in thought, and my heart is already saying yes. A frown settles on my lips, knowing what choice I'm inclining to make. One so out of character for me.

"I'll try. For you, Rosalind," I whisper. My eyes connecting with hers, letting her know I truly mean it.

"Bless you, dear." She begins to cry as a large smile takes over her face. Throwing her arms around me, she embraces me as a mother would to her child. My lips turn up, and my eyes almost water, this whole situation being so emotional.

Rosalind grabs a tissue and quickly dabs her tears away. Her sniffles are still prevalent, as is her relief oozing out of her, but she has managed to pull her self together. This woman has definitely earned my respect

"It's time for me to go back," she walks to the door and I follow behind it. "Aurora, I can't thank you enough. My words will never suffice." Rosalind smiles warmly, a smile that has the ability to brighten up anyone's mood.
