I finish my cereal, get up out of my seat, grab my back pack and kiss my mom's cheek goodbye. I grab my keys from the counter. "Tell dad to have a good day and I may drop by after school. Bye mum, love you" I say walking out of the kitchen. I get no response but I know she heard me. I walk past my living room; the smell of paint still lingers from a recent paint job. We decided we need to update our house so we painted and got new furniture and electronics. On the far wall the TV and shelves of DVDs sit. On the right wall, from the doorway, a window, about the full size of the wall, shows our street, and to the left is a couch and coffee table just off center of the middle of the room.
The sun is shining when I walk outside. I can see clouds forming in the distance and the crisp fall air is invigorating. Winter is one of my favorite seasons, the feel of it all, sitting by the fire, snow ball fights and being around family is one of the best feelings in the world.
I walk down my lawn to my 2005 dodge neon SXT. Not the best car to have but it will do on a light budget. I got it from my neighbor who moved away last summer back to England to take care of her mother. I felt bad for her but getting a car was exciting.
As I pull up to my best friends' house Don and Emma walk to my car both talking about something exciting. Don and Emma are fraternal twins. They have very similar looks, both have blonde sandy hair and both have a good sense of style. We have been friends forever. Actually our parents were friends first so we were always around each other. When we were growing up Don and I became really close and Emma was always just there; not saying we ignored her but we didn't always see eye to eye. One day when Don was sick Emma offered to play outside with me. We made a fort in my backyard with sheets from my house. We attached them to my giant silver maple that has been growing there longer then the house. That day Emma and I became best friends. Don and Emma have had there fights but I was always there to bring them back together.
Don gets in to the front, like every Monday, and the talking stops. Not usual for these two. Emma in the back seat looks like she is keeping a very dirty secret. "Are you guys hiding something from me?" I ask looking accusingly at them.
"Pft! Why would you think that?" Emma says with a plastered on smile. Emma, ever since we were little was no good at lying and I guess that's why we are such good friends. No secrets. I back out of there drive way still looking at Emma accusingly.
"Ya Jade why would you think we were hiding something, we are friends aren't we?" He says trying to assure me. "Any ways, what do you want for your birthday? December seventh is only a month away and you haven't said anything to me!" Don said enthusiastically.
"Well turning eighteen isn't as big as you think. All I want is a little party at my house with my two best friends and eat cake till I puke." I say driving in to the parking lot of school. We don't live far from school but driving is the most convenient if you want to do things after school.
"Well we both want to do something big so you know what I may just not go!" Emma says when I finally find a spot right in the middle row.
"Emma don't be so rude! I don't care how we celebrate as long as I get to be with my sister and my best friend." Don says opening my door for me like every day. That's how he pays me for the rides, which is unnecessary but he does it anyways.
