Katie’s POV:
After I got the text from Austin I quickly unlocked my front door and threw my backpack in my room. My parents wouldn’t be home until about 5:30 from work and it was already 3:00 so I had time to watch movies with Austin. I checked myself in the mirror one last time before leaving my house and locking the door behind me.
I walked across my yard to Austin’s house and knocked on the door. A woman with brunette hair, probably in her 40’s, answered the door.
“Hi, um, I’m Katie. Is Austin here?” I asked shyly.
“Oh yes, of course Austin told me you were coming over. I’m Austin’s mom, but you can call me Michele, oh, let me get Austin for you, feel free to come inside,” She smiled, opening the door fully to let me in.
“Austin your girlfriend is here to see you,” Michele said to Austin in the other room.
“Mom, we’re not dating,” I heard Austin whisper harshly. I could feel my cheeks turning a bit red as Austin walked into the room I was in.
“Sorry my mom can be a pain sometimes,” He said, clearly frustrated.
“It’s fine,” I laughed.
“Okay so about the movie, come on,” Austin took my hand and led me upstairs to his room and shut the door behind us. “You can sit there if you want,” He said, pointing to his bed.
“So what movie are we watching?” I asked, hopping onto his bed.
“How’s ‘The Heat’?” he suggested.
“It’s fine with me,” I replied. Austin pressed play and turned the lights off. He crawled onto his bed and sat next to me.
The movie started playing but neither of us were really paying attention. Every once in awhile one of us would glance at the other. The tension between us was growing. The urge to say something was increasing.
Finally, Austin turned down the T.V. and adjusted to face me. His hazel eyes showed the reflection of the movie in the background.
“Listen, Katie, I like-,” he stopped himself to think of what to say next, “I like hanging out with you.”
“Same,” I smiled.
“I-I was wondering if you want to want to spend more time together, like permanently.” he said. I gave him a puzzled look. “I’m not good at this,” he said.
I giggled as his face turned a bit red.
Austin sat up straight and looked me in the eye, taking my hand in his, “I guess what I’m trying to say is, will you be my girlfriend, Katie?” Austin held his breath, waiting for an answer.
I sat there not knowing what to do.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” I smiled.
He let out a sigh of relief and snuggled up next to me, “Perfect, I was hoping you’d would say yes.”
Austin looked down at me and I was immediately drawn to his eyes, I couldn't look away. He glanced down at my lips then back at me as the space between us decreased. we were so close that if he moved forward even the slightest bit, our lips would have touched.
Unfortunately, before anything could happen, a knock on the door pulled us apart.
“Hey Katie? Would you like to stay for dinner?” Austin’s mom asked, opening the door.
“What time is it?” Austin asked.
“Like, 5:15-ish,” Michele replied.
Crap, my parents are getting home at 5:30!
“Erm, no that’s okay. I should be getting home now anyway, but thank you for inviting me over,” I smiled and looked at Austin, “It was fun.”
I got off Austin’s bed and walked back to my house before anyone could question me further.
As I began to unlock my front door, I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket.

‘Maybe next time ;)
I laughed and replied back.
To: Austin
‘Maybe...If you’re lucky XD’
I walked inside my house with nothing but a smile on my face.
Today was officially the best day ever.
