A Wild Ride

Chapter 15

Ashlyn's POV

It's like everything moves in slow motion. I hear the lady say something about serious injuries and being rushed to hospital. I drop the phone and stare off into the distance with my mouth hanging open. Jake shakes me and try's to get my attention, but it's like he's not even there. I see someone pick up the phone out of the corner of my eye, I think it was Kade. I lean against the counter for support, and feel someone's hands help me to sit down on the floor. It was Ray. My whole body feels numb. I get this tingling sensation that starts in my feet, and works its way up to my head. "Ashlyn? Ashlyn!" Yells Jake right in my face. It sounds like I'm underwater, not able to clearly hear what they're saying. I feel water drip from my face. "Where's all this damn water coming from" I say snapping out of my daze, looking up at the ceiling. "Ashlyn, you're crying" said Jake holding my shoulders. I look at him, "I am?" I asked confused. He wipes away the tears. "We have to go" he said helping me up. His eyes were red and puffy. I let them drag me to the car, and we drive to the hospital. During all of it, all I can think about is the stupid prank.

Jakes POV

As we pull up to the hospital it starts to set in what just happened. My brother was in a car accident with serious injuries. I jump out of the car and sprint into the hospital with everyone following close behind. I run up to the front desk. "Paul? Logan Paul?" I ask the lady. "Right this way" said the lady leading us to the room. When we reach the room Logan isn't there. There's a nurse in the room who is writing something in his chart. "Where's my brother" I ask accusingly. "Sir, you're brother is in surgery. He hit a truck head on, and it caused some major head trauma, as well as a broken leg, and badly sprained wrist. The doctor will be in shortly" I feel a drop of water hit my shirt. I look down frowning. I feel someone touch my arm. I turn to see Ashlyn. "Now you're crying" she says sniffling. I give her a big hug, and we silently cry into each other. I don't remember how long we stayed like this, but I know it was a very long time.

Ashlyn's POV

It's been about three hours since we got here. Chad went to the cafeteria to get us some food, but I had no appetite. Pam and Greg were on their way. Brendan and Evan were here now too. After a few minutes I see Pam closely followed by Greg come in. They immediately hug Jake, then me. Pam had tears streaming down her cheeks, and Greg had a sad gloom to his face. After about another 30 minutes, they wheeled Logan in. We all gathered around him as the doctor talked about his injures. I couldn't hear a word he said, all I could listen to was the beep of the monitor that tells you his heart is still beating. I listened, waiting for it to stop. Waiting for that line telling you he was gone. I winced at the sight of him. He had scraps and bruises all over him. Part of his head was shaved and wrapped in bandages. He was hardly recognizable. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I felt a hand interlock with mine. I looked beside me, and seen it was Pam. I gently reached out my other hand, and rested it on Logan's. Just as my hand made contact I heard a scratchy voice. "Ash?" I looked up, eyes wide to see Logan's eyes open. "Yes, yes I'm here" I said leaning in closer. "Yo-you cheated" he said in a raspy voice. "You slept with Jake" he said through squinty eyes. "No, no that was a prank bro" Jake said resting his hand on Logan's leg. "That was a prank" he said again looking down, his voice breaking. "A prank?" He asked. "Yes, yes it was, I love you" I said through tears of joy. I felt his fingers weakly grip my hand. "That videos gonna get a lot of views" he says trying to smile.
