We got up to Aunt May's door just in time for her to open it.
"Oh my goodness! If I would've known Peter wasn't coming alone I would've baked cookies!" Aunt may said surprised and a bit upset
"I'm sorry Aunt May," I scratched the back of my neck
"Everything happened so fast and...."
"Nonsense, no need to explain, come right in and make yourself at home." Aunt May said, smiling at Mary Jane
Peter directed MJ to the couch in the living room while Aunt May went to go bake cookies.
"So tiger, what's on your mind?"
I sighed and took a deep breathe
"A year ago, my girlfriend....erhm ex-girlfriend now, died...."
MJ immediately put her hand to her mouth and instinctively pulled Peter in for a hug, which made him blush and squirm a bit because he only got this kind of attention from Aunt May.
She pulled back, "I am SO sorry"
"Before I say anything more I haven't even introduced myself, I'm Peter. Peter Parker."
MJ's eyes widened, "Peter, as in the amazing lab assistant that worked with Curt Connors at Oscorp??"
"No, well yes and no" I scratched the back of my neck
"That was actually my father, but I took a minor job there when Gwen Stacy and I were dating..."
"Oh. Gwen, I'm still really sorry about that. I had no idea, she was one of the many most talented people at Oscorp."
(Wait a minute, how'd she know it was Gwen??? Did she just read my mind...)
"Really, you don't have to apologize."
"Hey, we're friends now and I want to make you feel happy. I'm Mary Jane." She outstretched her hand and Peter took it in a swift motion, making sure to give her a delicate handshake
"You're so kind and we barely just met over 40 minutes ago." I chuckled
She laughed, "Continue Tiger"
"So, like after Gwen passed, I never got over her. Not even with all the grieving and I just feel so down in the dumps and horrible and depressed." I whispered to her so Aunt May wouldn't hear
"You haven't told your aunt have you?" She whispered back
"No, I don't want to worry her." I still said whispering
MJ smiled again because she could tell how kindhearted Peter was and how he didn't deserve to feel this way.
"You know what, this calls for something spontaneous. Something to help you break out of your shell. We need to get away from the city !" Mary Jane said excitedly
"Really? You'd be okay with doing that?" Peter had genuine concern and curiousness on his face
"Of course! I wouldn't have said it if I didn't think otherwise!" she smiled widely
"You're literally, amazing." I said reaching in for a hug and she squeezed me tightly
(I have to say, I don't even know much about this girl, but hot damn do I want to start being with her more often...)

Aunt May walked in as soon as they stopped hugging, "Cookies anyone?"
