Ryder's Point Of View
Chapter 4 - Wait What?
***

"What's up Ryder?"

"Leave me alone Levi."

I couldn't stop thinking about the party at Willow Hunt's house. How sad Nadia seemed. If you looked closely enough, you could see the tear streaks that went down her face.

She also had a bruise on her hip. She must not have known about it because she wasn't covering it very well.

The way she tensed when Daxton called her name. The way her voice shaked when she said his name. The way she looked at Justin, Levi, and I. Scared showing in her wide, light green eyes.

I said something to him. But I can't remember what.

"Nadia!" I hear her brother Wesley yells.

I turn in time to see Nadia jump out of the car window.

"Yes Wesley?" she fakes her innocence.

"Why did you jump out of the car window?" Jax asks her.

"Because Tyler wouldn't park fast enough and I want to see my friends."

Her reply was so blunt that it just made her brothers sigh and shake their heads.

I let out a little laugh as do my friends, they also watched the exchange that happened in front of us.

"Ohhh. I know why Ryder won't pay attention to us!" Justin exclaims.

"And why would that be?" I drawl.

"Because... because uh. I just thought of the reason why!"

Levi rolls his eyes at Justin. "Because he's been thinking about Nadia Embers."

Justin snaps his fingers and points at Levi as if to say that's what he was gonna say.

I look at my best friends amused. The other guys of my group: Trent, Jack, Issac all shake their heads at them.

I couldn't help but stand back and look over my friends.

Levi Jacks, my best friend since childhood. When I moved here, he ran away and came here to. Making his family pack up and move here as well. I smile at the memory.

We both met Justin when he was getting beat up behind the school by Daxton and Ethan. That was during freshman year.

Justin was already friends with Trent, Jack and Issac so Levi and I just welcomed them into our friendship. We've become kind of inseparable I guess you could say. We normally stick to our little group with an exception of Justin being friends with some of Nadia's brothers.

I might have spaced out while smiling. Because Trent then punches my arm to get my attention.

"Dude!" I yell at him.

He just smirks.

"That hurt. I don't do sports like all of you do."

"No you don't which is highly surprising considering you're good at gym."

"I hate gym," I point out Trent.

"We know you do Ryder. You only ever complain about it, oh I don't know. All the time."

"Shut up Jack."

"Sooo Ryder?"

"What do you want Issac?"

"Do you like her?"

"Do I like who?" I play stupid hoping that they would just drop the topic.

"Nadia. Do. You. Like. Nadia?" he asks again.
