Yugi's P.O.V.
The rickety house shook as I entered the rotting doorway. I treaded more carefully, making sure not to damage the house. I turned on my flashlight to inspect the room, which was covered in a curtain of darkness.
The room was empty. No furnishings or even dust rested in the room. Everything was aged and broken. But there were no signs of life. In awe, I scanned the room. No curtains hung in the windows, water dripped from the ceiling, rotting the board under the drip. The door stood on it's rusty hinges, open wide. No other doors rested in doorways. The walls, once a perfect white, had faded into an ugly yellow. I marveled at the baseboards, half gone and riddled with holes where animals dwelled. I continued moving into the house.
Passing through the kitchen, I saw the same lack of human habitation. The counters remained spotless. The cupboards were empty and slightly broken. There was no supplies in any room. I saw nothing. Sighing, I turned the flashlight back to where I was going. I needed to see.
I headed up the stairs to the third floor. It was there the thing I seeked would be located. The stairs creaked whenever weight was put on them and the banister broke off as soon as it was touched, but I headed onwards to the third floor.
The doors on the third floor were rumored to only open when certain specifications were met. The one I was looking for was ajar as I reached the top of the stairwell. But...I checked on it earlier this week and it was locked...I peered in, anxious.
The room wasn't furnished. All it contained were six small dolls, sitting side by side. They each looked lifelike, almost as if six small children sat in their place.
The first two were twins: Both wore a style of hair similar to mine; spiked in a fire design, bangs shooting upwards in violent yellow streaks. Ruby eyes shone gently in the faint moonlight. But while one was pale, more Japanese, the other was a deep tan, more Egyptian.
The third was a boy with two shades of brown layered on his hair, spiking outwards and down. His eyes were soft, one a gold and one a bright green, and glittered with the amusement he showed, his smile wide on his face.
The fourth was more fierce: a dark haired boy with bright yellow streaks shooting outward and upwards, following the spikes in his hair. His blue eyes glittered dangerously.
The fifth was dark haired as well, with two pink spikes glittering slightly, shooting upwards in a sort of curve. His eyes, a trusting brown, glittered. His left eye had a futuristic device over it, bright green.
The final one had a sort of tomato look to it: a layer of green covered a layer of red with a green lock shooting upwards. His eyes were red, but shared a bright happiness, a joy of sorts.
I proceeded in cautiously, going up to the small dolls, kneeling down in front of the marvelous toys. He touched the pale twin, marvelling at his appearance.
And I saw him twitch.
I jumped back, startled, as he turned to the others and woke them up, and they all started moving. They stood up, one by one. And they turned slowly to humans, identical to the dolls they once were.
