Tomika Young Actress,Singer,SongWriter and Soon To Be A Famous Photographer

Tomika Young has always been a fan favourite she's the lead singer in School Of Rock one of the most popular band of 2017. She's a amazing songwriter and she does it all why she's in school. Her friends have been recently boasting about her photography skills all over Instagram and we can't fault them for doing it.

It seems Tomika is harbouring a secret skill. This amazing girl has recently started to film a show with her fellow band mates and it promises to be very drama full. We sat down with Tomika and asked her some questions.

PM- Pop Magazine

PM: First of all congratulations on your new show Dangerous Lies and School Of Rocks New album coming out later on this year.
T: thank you and yeah it's coming out November 30th
PM: okay so when did you first get into photography.
T: well it's a funny story when school of rock first was formed and we realised our first album. We did it all by ourself in this recording studio Lawrence our keyboard player built and I offered to take the photo for the album cover. We ended up going with a blurred picture of all our instruments lined up. It looked good and I started to take an interest in photography. So now I study it.
PM: awesome. Okay so another popular question people kept sending in was how do you find all time to act sing wrote songs take photos produce YouTube videos and go to school.
T: it was hard a first but I've had a lot of practice. I am the only one out of the band who furthered my education to university. I do it through a private tutor. I meet with them twice a week for three hours and do bits here and there as well. I take photography and law. It's not that much school work. It definitely helps to have a amazing group of friends who also can post videos when I can't. It is a joint channel. I mean we only film 4 days out of the week per episode and we have a table read on Mondays. Me and Zack we have a method to writing songs. So usually it starts with my writing lyrics and thing to go with it then me and Zack sit together and figure out a basic back tune then we organise the lyrics and add some or delete some. Then we add more complex music to it and we have a sing we record it and show to the guys then we all record it as a band. It's been quite easy recently to sing as we can't go on tour until we finish filming so the only music we've been doing is recording which we do at any time.
PM: that sounds like a lot but how do you cope with the looming fear that your tumour could come back.
T: It's hard sometime as my brain gives up easy. But I just have to be positive because as soon as you let a little bit of negativity into your body and mind then things will start to happen that are negative. I always try to only do things I think am I capable of achieving. I feel like I am in a good place in life at the moment.
PM: that's great okay slightly less intense questions now
T: (laughs) yeah okay
PM: what can you tell us about your show Dangerous Lies and your character.
T: well it's about five kids who all meet and they all have secrets some more dangerous than others. All their secrets come out when they find one of the characters friend dead. Okay my character is called Breanna Jones. She has a twin played by my actual brother Freddy. She doesn't like girly things and she loves skateboarding like me. She has always been a bit of a loner and that leads to her and her brother always causing trouble. They end up having to move multiple times a year. When they land at the last school that will take them. She gets very paranoid and try's to clear her name from the murder and she loses and gains friends and things from the past haunt her and she may or may not fall in love showing she has a soft side.
PM: sounds insane, okay now we have a quick fire round of this or that
T: okay let's do it

T: candy for sure.
PM: coffee or Tea
T: coffee or much of a tea drinker
PM: beach or Cozy day at home
T: beach okay so anybody who knows me knows I have a unhealthy obsession with the beach. I usually go there everyday after filming and I just sit there. I also love to take my guitar and sing there.
PM: okay one quick random fact nobody knows
T: I wrote our time is now in one day and I wrote the lyrics at my fav place the beach.
