Shroud of magic

Chapter 3

As Zero walked through the opening he entered the lobby and stared in awe at the size of it. It was crowded with students trying to navigate themselves along with the helpers in their white suits guiding the lost. The soft smell of leather hit him as he looked around the room which was dotted with many leather chairs. crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling enveloped the room in a warm glow.
The seats were occupied by different individuals. Zero noticed that the room was surprisingly calm for all the hustle and bustle going on, with students being escorted to there rooms, and group introductions taking place to get students accustomed to their surroundings.

"Are you alright my dear human?" came a voice.

Zero now turned to face the individual to which the voice belonged to., puzzled by the fact that he was addressed as human.

He found that it was another helper, although he did not appear to be human. He had long light blue hair, with ears which were pointed and soft brown eyes. He was an elf!

Zero stuttered as he tried to get his words out "Yeah, I'm great, doing just fine." He had never met an elf before and was amazed, it was truly not something he would see in his tiny town.

"Hmm, I beg to differ considering you still have your luggage I'd say you don't know what to do next after arriving in lobby 1"

Zero felt flushed with embarrassment his first time meeting an elf why did he have to gives such a stupid response. It was obvious to anyone watching that he was not doing fine. Zero chuckled "Yeah I guess I'm not... wait lobby one. Do you mean that there's more?" He couldn't believe that this was not it. He knew the ship was big, but he clearly had not thought about its size.

To his surprise the elf gave a light chuckle which lifted some of the anxiety "Oh yes we have lobby one to three, and two park gardens for students to relax." He then cleared his throat and took out his small magic mirror device. "well it is my job to guide students to their travel accommodation so I should probably get on that. If you don't mind follow me."

The elf guided Zero through the crowded lobby filled with new students and older years alike. It was amazing, there were so many different races present that he had never seen before. He was bubbling with excitement.

He was guided to an strange machine that appeared to go up and down he was not sure what to make of it.

The elf noticed the puzzled look on Zero's face and tilted his head."you don't know what this is, do you?"

Zero shuck his head "No... there's nothing like this in my town."

The elf seem saddened by this statement. "It is sad that regions such as yours receive little help from the capital core regions of the empire, well that's to say the common people don't, Hopefully one day that will change.

Zero was not sure what this had to do with the strange contraption in front of him but nether the less. He wondered what the elf ment.

The elf then clapped twice and pointed to the contraption "this is an elevator, it takes you to different floors. we are on floor two of the four floors.

"Oh, okay and what is that device you guys seem to carry around?" The elf had peaked Zero's interest and he wanted to know more.

"Oh you mean the tablet. Yeah this is a basic device used on this ship exclusively. You will be given something alot more high tech when we arrive on Central campus."

The elevator had now opened allowing the two to step in. Zero was amazed. he knew that at this school he would be see things and experiencing things he would of never dreamed of and it was extremely exciting.
