A loud rustle next to her.

Without looking, she knew exactly what it was.

He struggled in pitch blackness to put his shoes on, and stumbled as he made his way to the bedroom door. He as quietly as he could, put on his coat and slowly turned the door handle.

The light switched on.

He turned around startled, surprised she was awake. She was never awake when he left.

She gazed at him, into his eyes, her gaze never breaking.

"Please, don't go." Her eyes swelled with tears, hoping he'd actually stay.

He looked conflicted. He slowly opened the door and... left.

She layed back down crying softly, knowing inside she'd forgive him by tomorrow.

Maybe this pain wouldn't hurt as bad, if you actually loved me...
