I could hear the crisp autumn leaves crunch under my feet as I walk along the streets in my hometown of Goldberg, Connecticut.
Damn it, I'm gonna miss this place.
By this time tomorrow, I'll be moving into an apartment. It'll be just off the main campus of the university that I'll be attending to study a four year bachelors degree in psychology. With the thought of college on my mind, I can feel my nerves tingling, I haven't met my roommate, all I know is that she'll be a sophomore this year and she needs someone to pay half the rent on her apartment. I talked to my college counselor a few months prior, and they recommended the apartment that I'll be moving into.
I figured living off campus will help me focus on school and not my social life. The only thing that comes out of having a social life, or a relationship in college, is wasted time and anxiety. All my friends think I'm crazy, always saying how college is a new start, and how I should open up more, live a little. But I find it all childish, I mean, I'm here to get an education, aren't I?
Although, college will definitely still be a new start for me, I'm excited to study something that I really love.
In high school, I was never really a social person, I had friends, but most were friends that I've had since I was younger. I never really dated in high school either, boys were never a big thing for me, unlike most girls. This was mainly due to my social anxiety, large crowds, new people, it always made me anxious. I struggled with it my freshman, sophomore and junior years of high school, it wasn't until my senior year that the attacks stopped, thankfully I haven't had one since. But the lack of anxiety didn't change my mindset on school. So I mainly focused on the work. Getting good grades was my key to moving on the next chapter of my life, and making the most of it.
And I've finally made it. College.
A/N : HI! I'm so excited to start writing! I know this chapter is a tad bit short, but trust me just roll with it. Enjoy!!
