When I got to the police station, I was sent straight to the interrogation room. I sat in there for 3 hours.
"They need to hurry up cuz I got shit to do," I thought.
"Good evening, I'm Detective Larry," a man said entering the room and taking a seat. "Sorry for the long wait. We're kinda backed up out there."
"Yeah, whatever."
"Mya Thomas," he read out loud from a file he was holding. "Daughter of the infamous Donovan 'The Don' Thomas." He looked up at me. "So that means you know your way around the game, huh?"
I shrugged. "I guess."
"Do you know exactly why your father is locked up?"
"Yea. Drug possession." I said with an attitude.
Detective Larry chuckled at me. "Did you know a young man named Rodney Anderson? Because he's the real reason why your father is locked up." He laid out the file, showing pictures of a man's dead body in an alley.
I knew who he was. Rodney A.K.A. Hot Rod. He was the most scheming ass nigga I've came across in my life. He stole money from every single dealer until he met the wrong one: ME. When I told my dad he fucked me over, he killed Rodney himself.
"No and that's not why he's locked up."
"Oh Ms. Thomas, we know that he stole money from your dad. And I know that really pushed you and your dad to the edge."
I scrunched my face. "Are you tryna tell me that I was part of it?"
He leaned back into the chair. "You tell me. I'm just telling it like it is."
"Look, I don't know that dude. I heard that he was a scammer and he'll run game on you. My dad and I have nothing to do this. Yall don't have no evidence or prints on us, no witnesses, AND my record clean. So either I can walk up outta here and go about my day or I can call my lawyer and we'll be here all night. Your choice." I had my straight face on the whole time. I wasn't gone let him see me sweat.
Detective Larry stared at me for a while, then he smacked his lips. "You're free to go."
"Appreciate it." I hurried out of there and jumped in my Jeep. I let out a sigh of relief as I checked my phone. 5 missed calls from Mom, 10 missed calls from Keith, and 20 missed calls from Algee. Damn, what's going on now?!
I called Algee back. "Why you ain't been answering? I've been calling you back and forth!" Algee yelled into the phone.
"First of all, calm tf down! And second, I've been at the police station this whole time. What's going on??"
"Just get to St. Bernardino Hospital now!" He hung up. If he hang up on me again, he's gonna be in the hospital bed next!

I arrived at the hospital and ran inside. I frantically searched down the hallways for Algee.
"Baby!" I turned around and saw Algee standing with Keith. As I walked closer towards them, I saw Rico's baby mama holding their baby with tears in her eyes as my mom comforted her.
"You better have a good ass reason why you hung up in my face," I said in a serious tone to Algee.
"Mya, it's Rico.......he's dead."
I lightly chuckled at him. "Mane, you play too much. Quit playing so damn mu--"
"He's gone, Mya," Keith interrupted. "He's gone."
I looked between Algee & Keith and saw how serious they were. I suddenly felt my body go weak.
"Catch her!" Mom shouted. Algee and Keith grabbed me as I dropped to my knees.
"NAW NOT MY NIGGA! NOT MY BROTHER, MANE, NOT MY BROTHER!" I kept screaming out in the hallway, causing everyone to stare.
"We're here for you, cuz. We gone get through this." Keith said, trying to calm me down.
I got up from the floor, snatching my arms away from them. "Brah let me go! Let me go!" I ran out of the hospital and got back in my Jeep. I hit the steering wheel and cried. Rico was like my brother. Why did this had to happen to him?

"Why weren't you at the hospital brah?" I was talking to Cortez, trying to figure out why he didn't show up.
"I was tryna find the nigga that did this shit to him. When I find out, Ima kill his bitch ass and that's on God, foo!"
"They gone get what they deserve, brah. They didn't have to kill my nigga in broad daylight." I walked inside my house and noticed it was dark. "Tf? I know I paid the utility bill, so why is it so dark in here?"
Before I knew it, something struck me in the back of my head. I collapsed on the floor and fell into a daze. Feeling my body being dragged across the floor was the last thing I remembered.
