"Well Dad, Jackie, Mason, I'll see you guys at Christmas then?" Jack said, standing by his family, at the front field of Ilvermorny, the sun shining down on them. "Yeah Bud, and we'll write a bunch." His dad responded, pulling him into a huge bear hug. Joining the hug, Mason and Jackie chimed in, "Yeah!" Jack took a step back, taking one last look at his family for the year. "Tell Mom I love her!" He responded, walking through the large gates of the school, and beginning his journey.
Staring at the large cluster of young kids dressed in blue robes, Jack walked up, spotting two teachers in elegant dresses trying to organize everything. "First Years over here!" One yelled, and Jack began toward her, the smallest of the children gathering there, while the other teacher ("Older years over here!") pushed the older group through large brown magnificent doors, at the front of the school. The school was a wonderful castle, tan brick holding it together, as it flowed around the grounds filled with tall and dark trees. Large towers stretched across the sky, revealing windows and ledges. "The adventures I'll have." He said to himself, grinning, and looking around at the other first years. Noticing a kid that looked sickly, almost a tint of green, Jack walked over to him, making his way through the small group, his robe dragging across the brick. "You alright?" He asked, patting his back. "N-not quite.." The boy responded, also quite pale. "Well, good luck alright!" Jack said, looking up at the boy, and feeling quite bad. "Feel better." And with that, he took off a start through the crowd, making his way to the front to see what was going on with the crowd. "Quiet down, quiet down." He could hear, as he made his way to the front. The uncomfortable chatter stopped immediately, as the woman in the red sparkly dress stepped up.
"Welcome, to the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." She said, gesturing her arms to the looming building that stood behind her. "You will be staying here for your school years, and going home only for the Summer holidays." The lady continued on. "I am, Professor Leah Brown, the deputy headmistress." Small mutterings began through the group. "Silence!" Leah said calmly, and order was restored. "You will be soon getting your magic wands, and school supplies, however.." Almost on cue, the large wooden doors at the front of the school swung open, revealing the wonderful main hall, and the statues that inhabited it. "Wow..." was all Jack could mutter. "First you will be sorted, into one of four houses." More chatter and gasps broke out, as the students were surprised and excited, wondering which house they would be in. Pulling out her wand, Leah flicked it, summoning four small banners each with a different crest and color on it. Gesturing at the dark red banner that held an odd cat/lion hybrid she began. "Here we have Wampus.." Jack stared at it, somewhat entranced as she continued on. He wasn't paying attention however, as he felt a mild tap on his shoulder. "Huh?" Spinning around Jack saw a tall blue-haired boy, grinning wildly. "So I saw you like Wampus eh?" He began talking extremely fast. "Uh.." "I saw you staring at it, you must like it." Jack had a hard time keeping up. "Y-yeah it seems pretty co-" "That's great, I'd like Wampus too, good luck!" Jack seemed to like the kid, he talked fast and seemed pretty insane, but he liked him. "Tha-" "No problem, anyw-" And if as an active karma, Leah interrupted speaking loudly to the group of first years. "Alright, we're heading in!"
Leading the children into the hall, Leah's dress dragged behind her, and over the slight bump that led them into the entrance hall. The entrance hall was a majestic circular structure with tall, dome ceiling, and balconies that were filled with the older students, as they stared down at the first years. "Alright, the headmaster will be out in a bit." Leah exclaimed, heading off through a side door, leaving the first years stranded in the circular hall. Jack looked around, noticing four statues, each with a significantly different animal on it, the animals that had been on the sorting banners. Jack was still particularly interested in the Wampus statue, staring at it, entranced by it. "Oh boy this really is something isn't it!" Jack knew who's voice it was, and spun around only to be surprised again. Lyne's hair had gone from a bubblegum blue, to a neon green. "Wha-How-What..?" Jack stuttered. Lyne grinned, running his hand through his hair. "Metamorphmagus." He replied simply. Understanding, Jack nodded and looked around the group, standing awkwardly talking in pairs. "I met this girl, Olivia was her name I think." Lyne continued, talking in his normal to-hard-to-understand pace. "She seems pretty cool, I think she wanted wampus. Just like me!" Lyne nodded at a girl near them, she had brown-ish hair, and was talking to the boy who seemed sick. "No it does not matter!" Jack heard her say, and saw her storming away from the sickly boy. Jack and Lyne walked over to the boy, curious as to what happened. "What was that?" Lyne asked, extremely direct. "Well... I kept asking her if your opinion mattered..?" He looked sicker than ever. Jack scratched his head, wondering why she blew up. "Must be nerves.." Lyne said, also a bit puzzled. "She seemed cool when I met her..." Atticus shuddered a bit, and grinned a weak grin at them. "Thanks for talking to me gu-" He had been cut off by the closing of the wooden doors, as they slowly slammed. Looking up at the balconies, Jack saw the older students muttering to each other and he assumed the sorting would be soon. More chatter broke out through the first years, all excited and nervous. Suddenly a voice rang out from a small door on the side, "THE SORTING WILL BEGIN SHORTLY!"
It had been a few seconds from the announcements, and Jack was extremely excited. Lyne, Jack, and Atticus gravitated towards the front of the small crowd, looking out, and up at the older students aware they were excited too. "This is it!" Lyne exclaimed grinning. Jack nodded, almost too nervous to speak, Atticus responded with a sickly groan. The three boys stood around, their emerald blue robes almost too big for them, as they waited to be sorted. "It's taking a bit huh..?" Jack asked, staring around. He could tell everyone was also getting a bit restless, extremely nervous about the sorting to come. The air inside the castle was extremely cold, and he was glad that he had the oversized robe as it warmed him. Lyne, Jack, and Atticus took turns telling each other about themselves, and Jack was extremely surprised that Atticus was actually related to one of his favorite quidditch players, Luke Thompson. The three bonded, almost ignoring the small group around them. They also worked out that they all wanted Wampus, so if all worked well for them, they would be in the same common room tonight. "Okay, seriously, what's taking so long..?" Atticus asked, impatient and ready to puke. "I dunno.." Jack responded. "My dad told me it took pretty long for his sorting to begin, so we'll see I guess..?" Looking down at the brick, Jack shivered a bit, the cold air getting to him, and took another glance at the students above him. They were all talking in groups, and he assumed that this must be normal for a sorting. Students from the first year group had actually sat down, curled up in the robes, and talking to one another. All of a sudden a large noise of an opening door could be hear, leading the sitting students to sit straight up. A tall figure emerged from the door, dressed in majestic robes. Standing in front of the statues he looked around at the first year. "Welcome to Ilvelmorny... and welcome..." He beamed. "To your sorting."
