I tapped my thumbs on my steering wheel, humming along to Stole My Heart, which was playing on the radio. Smiling at the fact that my favorite band, One Direction, was playing on the radio, I passed several more cars on the freeway. Remembering how One Direction was supposed to be in the city I lived in, Salt Lake City, Utah, got me really excited. I knew the chances of me finding them were really slim since they weren't really out and about a ton, and nobody knew where their hotel was, but it was still cool they were vacationing here.
The radio turned to Stand Up. I started singing along, as best I could.
"From the moment I met you, everything changed, I knew I had to get you, whatever the pain, I had to take you and make you mine."
"I would walk throught the desert, I would walk down the aisle, I would swim all the oceans, just to see you smile, whatever it takes is fine," I sang along, completly off key. But I didn't care. This was one of my favorite songs from 1D's album. Well, all the songs were my favorite. I honestly could not pick just one song of all of them. I also did not have a least favorite. It just oddly didn't seem fair to pick one over another. They were all equal.
The song continued as I turned on my right turn signal and made my way off the freeway on a ramp, into Salt Lake City. I actually lived about twenty minutes away, in a smaller town named Park City. I had also been looking for One Direction there because with Sundance and everything, famous people tended to stay there. They were actually spotted not too far from my house one day, but I missed it, and hated myself for not seeing them. I felt really bad.
Becoming quite engrossed in the music, I pulled up to a four-way stoplight and the song ended. I sighed when commercials started playing, and I quickly skipped to another station. Nothing really seemed to be on, so I just turned off the radio. My light turned green, and I turned.
I continued to drive in silence, thinking of what I would need to buy at Costco. I easily made a mental list because I had a great memory. I drove on, and as I approached another stop light, it turned yellow. But I was already passing the crosswalk, so sped up as much as I could to avoid running a red light.
From the corner of my eye, I saw something coming towards me.
"Shit," I muttered in the small moment I had to turn my head, and see a car quickly approaching on my left.
I met eyes with the driver, he looked mortified, he was clearly not stepping on the breaks, so I did all I could. My mind froze for a second as I recognized the ever so familier face. Momentarily forgetting who it was, I tried to press my foot on the gas to go faster, but the car infront of me blocked me and forced me to stop with a jolt when I rear-ended them.
My head yanked forward as I clearly pulled a muscle in my neck.
Right then the face registered in my mind- It was Liam James Payne.
I opened my mouth to make a noise, I wasn't sure if it would be a surprised sound at the fact that Liam Payne was about to crash into me, or a sound in pain. Probably both.
But I never got the chance because Liam's car plowed into mine that second.
The air was instantly knocked out of me and a jarring pain, worse than I had ever felt before appeared in my arm. I sat there in shock, not being able to move, yet surprised that I wasn't already knocked out.
The windshield and windows burst, shattering glass everwhere. Glass shards pushed their way into my skin, causing me to bleed.
My body was pushed into an awkward position and my legs were instatly smashed. The airbag popped out, and pushed even more air out of me, but it did seem to help absorb shock.
