I shifted in my bed and sighed. I didn't want to wake up. I felt very peaceful for the first time in the past few days, and I really didn't want to break that. Knowing that I wasn't going to fall back asleep, I decided to open my eyes.
I looked over to my left to see Dylan reading a magazine. As I blinked the sleep out of my eyes, the front cover came into focus.
I couldn't really see the whole thing, but I noticed that Liam was on the front cover. I also could have sworn there was smaller picture of me before the accident on the cover as well. I instantly knew he was probably reading an article about the crash.
Dylan looked up at me as I coughed. "Jessica! How do you feel?" He asked.
"Eh, I'm alright, I guess. Been better." My head did hurt a little bit from the beeping noise the heart moniter was constantly making. Other than that I felt fine- most of the stiffness in my joints had left.
He smirked and told me, "Well that's good. I guess you have another visitor that wants to see you. But first I think Dr. Phillips will want to talk to you." With that he stood and left.
I knit my eyebrows, trying to remember who would want to see me... Of course! Liam had been trying to talk to me for the past few days.
Stretching as much as I could, I yawned. As my mouth closed, the door to my room opened. Dr. Phillips strolled in. He looked fresh with wet hair, like he had just gotten out of a long shower.
"Hello, Jessica. How do you feel?" He inquired. I felt like I had been asked that question too many times in the past three days.
I smiled a little. "Great. Or at least better than I have."
He nodded and scribbled a few things with a pen on a paper I couldn't identify on his clipboard.
"I think that we will start physical therapy later this afternoon. We need to get you working on that as soon as possible for the greatest recovery," he informed me.
A huge smile appeared on my face. "Really?" I asked, not believing that I would be starting to work on my legs so soon.
"Yeah," was his only reply.
Dr. Phillips continued writing for about a minute more before speaking again. "Now, Jessica, somebody needs to talk to you... but I'm not sure if you will be able to handle it."
I bit my lip before asking, "Why do you think that?" Of course I already knew that he didn't want me fangirling over Liam in this condition, but I could keep my cool... Right?
"Well," He started, "Your visitor is the person that crashed into you. It's just, he's a very... important person."
I acted as if I didn't already know who it was. Dylan wasn't supposed to tell me. "Okay, so who is it?"
"Promise you will keep calm?" He questioned.
"Of course I can manage that."
"Alright, well the person that crashed into you is somebody named Liam Payne. Do you know who that is?"
My heart fluttered a little bit, and I heard it on the moniter. Perfect, I thought. He now knows that even the sound of his name makes me nervous.
"Yeah, I know who that is." I paused. "Do you think I can see him?
The doctor sighed before easily giving in. "Sure, sure. I'll send him in."
Wait, so he's waiting outside for me? How long has he been out there?
Dr. Phillips wrote one more thing down on his clipboard before stepping out.
I pulled my fingers through my hair a few times as I realized that it was a mess. When my attempts seemed to be useless, I stopped and started messing with my thumbs, staring at my hands.
It wasn't long before the door opened again. I kept my eyes on my hands for a few seconds more before looking up. At first I didn't recognize the boy- I saw a very tired and weary looking male who's fairly long brown hair was a complete wreck and had giant bags under his eyes. He took a few more steps before I realized whom it was.
Liam was really standing before me.
When his eyes met mine, he quietly inhaled sharply and my heart sped up. To my dismay, the moniter beeps did to, but Liam didn't seem to notice.
After several moments, I looked out the window, but what was outside didn't register in my mind.
A few more seconds passed before I looked at him and said something.
"Hi Liam," was all I could manage to get out.
I watched as he blinked a few times before he seemed to realize that he was staring at me. He shook his head like he was trying to clear it and get his thoughts in order.
"Hi, Jessica." He paused before he started ranting. "Okay, listen. I'm really so sorry for crashing into you, and I don't know what I was thinking, I was just... frozen. My brain stopped working right as I looked into your eyes because I didn't realize what was going on, and I just... I don't know, my body just stopped working all together. And now look, I've caused you to lose the use of your legs and I just feel so bad. Please, please forgive me, I hope you can, and-"
"Shh..." Was all I could do to stop him. I was engrossed in his accent, but I just couldn't bear letting him feel bad about this any longer.
"Liam, it's fine, I probably would have done the same thing. I forgive you and I don't blame you for anything." That was all I could think of to tell him.
Liam just hung his head and sat down in the chair that Dylan was in only about five minutes ago. He just slowly shook his head before saying, "Well, I know I should be feeling better, but I don't. I feel like I need to repay you in anyway I can..." His sentence drifted off. Liam looked like he was thinking for a moment. Suddenly, he snapped out of what seemed like a trance and spoke.
"Let me take you out to dinner. Or I can help with physical therapy. Or I'll take you shopping and you can buy whatever you want, no matter the price. I'll even buy you something like a car. Just tell me what you want."
I thought about his offer, taking everything in. Sure, these things sounded very inviting to take, but then something that might get in the way of these plans came to my mind.
"First, you don't have to do that. I'm fine, honestly. Secondly, what about Danielle? What does she think about that?"
He just sighed and thought more, like he hadn't considered Danielle before. "I-I'm sure she'll understand, right? I mean, she would understand, don't you think?"
"Maybe... I'm not sure. You should talk to her first," was all I could think of for advice.
I sighed after a few more moments of silence. "Okay, maybe you could come and help with physical therapy, but I don't know if dinner or shopping is a good idea because of the paparazzi and rumors. I don't think you need that right now."
Liam nodded, smiling the smallest bit. "Alright. When does your physical therapy start? I'm sure I can talk your doctor into it."
I took a deep breath and spoke. "Well, it should be starting this afternoon, if I remember right."
He nodded again, and stood. "I'll see you then!"
Before I could say anything else, Liam walked out.

Okay, I know this is sorta starting to sound like Glee, when Joe Hart was helping Quinn Fabray after Quinn's car accident in physical therapy... But I swear I got this idea before that show aired. And this will be different then what happens in Glee as well.
Thanks for reading! I'm going to upload again anytime during the week.
Also, I have many, many other ideas for other fan fictions for each of the other guys in 1D. So look for those. I'll start writing another when this story is ending. Once again, thanks guys!
