I keep my head resting on Kaizo's chest, allowing it to raise and fall to the rhythm of his breathing. His arms stays firmly around me, stroking my shoulder softly and soothingly. Ryu comes over, being one of our guilds medics, and places a cold, damn flannel over my wounded cheek. It cause me to flinch, tightening my arm around Kaizo's waist.
"Hey hey, shush.." Kaizo whispers softly, showing a side he hardly ever shows. I've had this sort of treatment from him before, but only when I first came and it was in private. Now we lay on a couch in the main quarters of the lodge and he's presenting this side to himself infront of everyone with no shame.
Ryu lifts up the blanket a little more, covering my shaking body. I hear the scratch of pencil against paper before he leaves to go talk to one of the warriors who needs help. I look up at Kaizo, terrified.
"It hurts so bad, Kaizo." I whisper so only he can hear, locking eyes and feeling the tears start to well up. I can't let anyone see any weaknesses, but I know I can trust Kaizo. He, and Kiko, saved my life.
Kaizo doesn't really have the words. He's a charmer, and knows all the ways to talk to girls to make them feel loved and wanted, but right now he's stumped. He lifts me gently, helping me sit between his legs and lean back against his chest. He wraps his arms around my waist, taking a hold of each hand in his own and resting them on my legs. I lean my head back, looking up at him. He smiles softly, kissing my forehead and when I turn to face forward once more, resting his chin on the top of my head. Ryu takes away the blood-stained cloth from the side of us and goes away to the side to clean it.
I begin to feel myself fall asleep when Kiko's voice echoes through the room. "TailZ," he announces, everyone standing to attention other than myself and Kaizo. "There's a newcomer in town. A newcomer who's different to all others we've seen. He's a threat to our younger members, particularly our hunters. He's a close-quarter fighter, so keep your guards up at all times. I'm thinking Rogue." Kaizo tightens his grip on my hands, feeling me start to shake more violently and panic. It's relaxing, feeling secure and safe within his arms amidst all the chaos. He looks towards Ryu and the other healers. "I want reports on all injuries within the next two weeks." They nod and obey. Kiko looks towards the warriors. "You need to be on defence constantly within the surrounding area. Paladins, I want you on close walls of this lodge." He points to them, all nodding in agreement. "Archers, you're hitting the roof for a few days. I do not, under any circumstances, want any hunters to leave the premises. This guys too much of a threat." There's a long pause as Kiko looks towards each group in the lodge. "Understood?"
One rogue, Maki, steps forward and raises a hand hesitantly. "So where is this guy?"
Kiko looks towards him and smirks. "Right outside. He's staying in the stables for the night ."
The healers and hunters all look slightly panicked and bewildered, knowing such a threat to them is staying within our lodge grounds. Many of the stronger, short-range classes seem relaxed and don't see this as a threat.
Me? I'm petrified.
