Ayla's POV
Nick and Jaycee are my best friends.They are there for me through everything. They know everything about me. Why I don't live with my parents, my fears, even my schedule for school. When I got out of 6th hour, they were waiting for me at my locker. We talked for a little, and then we walked outside. It was a Tuesday, so I had some time to get home, but then I had soccer practice.
Nick, Jaycee and I spent the next half hour talking. After I checked the time, I told them I had to go home. I had a lot of homework that I needed to get done. I figured it would take a while.
Once I said goodbye to Nick and Jaycee, I began my mile walk home. Although I didn't like it, it was better than living with my parents. I stopped at CVS to pick up a bag of gummy bears. I spoke to Laura for a bit (the cashier) before I got back on my path.
It was a nice day, mid-spring, so it was getting warmer, but it rained a lot. Once I turned onto my street, it began to rain. I sprinted to my house so I wouldn't get too much rain on my clothes. I got to my doorstep and started to reach for my key when I saw something lying on my porch. I carefully pick it up, and notice a little card. I read it over and over.
Dear Ayla,
This is Hope. I am sorry that she is here, but it is the best thing for her. I need you to take care of her; I need you to protect her. Please do not get rid of her. She is now yours.
I've read it three times, and I still don't understand. As I am reading it for the fourth time, I hear a cry. I notice it is coming from this little 'package' in my hands.
"Oh no. Not this." I think to myself. I slowly unwrap the blankets, while my heart begins to race. As I unwrap, features protrude from what I believe is a baby. On the last little part, my belief becomes true.
I have a baby.
