HEY LOVELY READERS

I honestly am trying to update as much as I can, but sometimes I am really busy so I try to write a lot & I'll try to update at least once a week.

---------------

Ayla's POV

"Jay, where are we going?" I ask. We've been driving for almost an hour and it looks like we've driven into the desert.

"Chill, Ayla. We're almost there." She says.

After 5 more minutes, I begin to become slightly irritated. I keep twisting in my seat to check on Hope, who has been sound asleep for half an hour.

"Jaycee, where are we?" I ask again. She just looks up from her phone, and takes a glance around. Then, I see a few tears roll down her face, and then she unbuckled her seatbelt.

"Jay, what are you doing?" I half yell, trying not to wake Hope. I slowly let off the gas until we're at a complete stop. Jaycee opens the door and gets out. She walks about 5 feet away from the car, then crumples into a heap on the ground. I turn one more time to check on Hope, then I undo my seatbelt.

By the time I'm out of the car, Jaycee is already on her feet again. She's kicking dust everywhere despite her flip flops, and she's yelling things I can't quite understand. I hear a few things like "DIRTY LIAR" and "STUPID" and "MOTHER F-", but the last one is cut off when I hear a cry. Apparently Jaycee hears it too, because she stops dead in her tracks, and stares at the car. I rush around to the other side to get Hope and see what is wrong with her.

"Hello sweetie, what's wrong?" I coon, lifting her up, but then I realize that she can't actually answer. I guess that she's hungry, so I open the hatch and grab some little baby Cheerio things.

After Hope is done crying, I buckle her back into her seat. I know I should go comfort Jaycee, but I'm scared she is going to flip out, like what happened last time.

FLASHBACK

"Jaycee, tell me what's wrong." I say softly, squatting down so my eyes are even with hers. "I'm here to help."

Then she does something unexpected. She slaps me. I wince in pain, and I fall onto my butt. I grab my cheek, which has began to throb in a matter of seconds.

"JAYCEE! WHAT THE HE-" I start, but I'm interrupted.

"SHUT UP. WHEN YOU TELL ME TO LEAVE YOU ALONE, I DO. WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT 'I WANT TO BE ALONE'?"

END OF FLASHBACK

I shudder, and immediately shake the thought from my head. Then, I slowly make my way up to her, where I find her sitting on the ground, head in her hands, crying.

"Jay, are you okay?" I say, trying to be as soft and careful as possible.

"She's a-a l-l-liar." Is all she manages to get out.

"Okay, okay. Let's go back to the car." I say, not really understanding what she means.

"NO!" She yells, causing me to take a step back because I'm afraid of what she will do.

"Jaycee, please. Tell me what's wrong." I tell her.

"NO. I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU EVERYTHING, YOU STUPID LITTLE BI-", she stops, realizing what she was going to say.

I just stare at her, feeling nothing but hurt. I walk over to the van, and hop in. I check on Hope, then I turn the key. Jaycee just paces back and forth, muttering something I can't understand.

I roll the window down and I yell. "Are you coming or not?"

And with that, Jaycee walks to the van, gets in, and shuts the door.

"Ayla, I'm so sorry. I should've never said that about you." She spits out, before she can add anything more, I speak.

"It's fine." I tell her, even though it's really not.

Finally, we begin the drive back home.
