Kai woke with a start, they had camped further down the road, last night and everyone was asleep, everyone except the girl. She was gone, no where to be seen. Kai got up quickly and awoke Bridget, someone who knew her way around. "Bridget! The girl! She's not here!" Kai said persistently but quietly. Bridget got up quickly. "Ugh why so early?" Bridget said with a yawn. Kai and Bridget zipped open the tent and looked around. "Over here little mages," a creepy little voice whispered on an overhang. Kai looked up, and gasped. The little girl was no longer a girl, she was an ugly, creepy creature with long fangs. Bridget lifted up her hand and quickly shot out some lightning from her hand, which shocked the creature girl. The creature girl fell of the overhang and onto the ground. "Ew, nasty, that's what we get for helping her," Bridget said. Kai nodded, looking somewhat sad. "This was obviously Shak's doing, " he said. Kai closed his eye and laid his hand on the ground. Vines came up from the ground and onto the girl, bounding her to the ground. "Nice thinking! Let's wake up the others, they missed too much!" Bridget said. "Already here!" Alura shouted. Dan, Brix, and Shella followed behind her. "We saw what happened, that's so creepy!" Shella said disgustingly. "This just makes everything worse though, it seems like Shak doesn't want us to go to the mountain, and he's going to make as any obstacles as he can," Kai tells the group. "Wait till I can get a hand on that Shak!" Dan said, a little bit of lightning flickering in is hand. "Well you've got to remember we don't really want to hurt him, we just want to get the darkness out," Alura informed Dan. "Yes, but we really have no idea how to get it out, do we?" Brix asked implying the truth. "Well yes, and no. We at least we know we are close to the top of the mountain, but honestly, Brix is right, we don't know much," Bridget said frowning. "Well we can't give up now, but we do need to train, and be ready for Shak, and anything else. There could be something controlling Shak, and we'd have to defeat that," Kai said. "Then let's get training!" Shella shouted and sprayed water into the air out of her hands.
While Kai and Brix were sparring, and Alura and Dan were making lunch, Bridget and Shella were talking about getting to the top of the mountain tonight. "We really should probably get going after lunch," Bridget told Shella. Shella nodded and looked at Kai and Brix. "I agree. We've gotten enough training right?" She asked wandering if they should be sparring as well. "Of course! I say we can take on Shak! No doubt about it!" Bridget told Shella encouragingly. Shella smiled and nodded as Kai delivered an emerald-leaf combo attack, which hit Brix hard. "Ok you win, let's eat!" Brix said and everyone shared a good laugh.
After lunch, the mages packed up and hit the road. The little creature was left on the ground tied to the ground by sharp and tough vines. The mountain top could finally be seen, the mages' destination. "So, exactly what are we going to do when we reach the top?" Dan asked. "Hmmmm, well I guess we really do need to come up with a plan," Brix admitted.
And so on the way up the young mages planned a great plan.
