"GRACIE CHEYANNE LESTRANGE! IF YOU DON'T DO THIS-"

I jumped as I woke up from my usual nightmare. I don't even give them a thought anymore, since it's the same one every night.

I stretched and yawned simultaneously, peeled the covers off, and rolled over to my back to think about what the day was.

Bloody hell, how could I have forgotten?!?

I sprang out of bed and ran over to my trunk. I admired the outfit I had set out for today; dark blue bootcut jeans, maroon converse, a plain black tee shirt, and a gold branch necklace.

After I got ready, I packed my last minute everyday things into my trunk, grabbed my owl's cage and called for her from my bedroom window.

"Misty? Misty?Misty! There you are!" I spotted her in the tree beside my window. "Hi sweet pea! C'mon, it's time to go!!"

"Aren't you excited?! We have to hurry though, I don't want to be late! Last thing I need is to have trouble finding a seat." I finally coaxed her to come inside.

"Alright Misty, cage. I said 'Cage!' Good girlllll! You can have a treat when we get to the platform if you're quiet on the way there, I promise."

After I walked downstairs, to the main office of the orphanage, I told the clerk that I was off for my yearly visit to my grandmother and I wouldn't be back until next year.

"Mmkay" He grumbled as he ate more of his donut and sipped his coffee. I turned around to go get my things from upstairs when suddenly I got this weird chill down my spine as if I was being watched.

I turned back around to look at the clerk, but he was gone, as well as the donut.

I thought nothing of it until something grabbed my arm and whispered in my ear, "Go to your room, now."

I looked in the general direction of where this person would have been, but saw nothing.

I sprinted up to my room and my door magically slammed behind me.

Magically, I thought.

"Mother?" I asked, followed by a sigh and an eye roll. She was famous for random, not very well timed visits.

The beloved Bellatrix appeared from head to toe as her make-shift invisibility cloak slid off of her.

"What a disappointing surprise." I said boringly.

"You've always been a such a disappointing daughter too, yanno. I may be a disappointment, but at least I wasn't a mistake." Bellatrix said as cold as ice.

I took a deep breath in and let it out slowly, willing myself to hold back tears. She isn't worth it, I try to tell myself.

"Look, I don't have time, as much as I'd love to speak to you right now, so what do you want?" I asked.

"Why, a mother can't come visit her daughter just because?"

"You're nothing near as close to a mother like the gum on the bottom of my shoe." I spat at her.

"Such a tone of disgust," She shook her head. "I don't know what I did to ever deserve to be treated this way. You are such a lucky little girl."

I chuckled at her.

"What, you don't think you're lucky?" She asked curiously.

"Of course not! Look at where I am, mom. I am in a bloody orphanage. And where do you live?" I looked at her hard. "Oh, that's right. You should be in Azkaban right about..." I glanced at my watch. "Now, actually." I looked up and smiled at her.

She narrowed her eyebrows and pushed my shoulders against the wall. "Alright you brat, I'm sick and tired of you speaking to me this way. Sure I haven't been the best mom I could have been-"

"You don't say," I interrupt.

"Bloody hell just shut up already!" She shouted as she slapped my face then let me go completely. She even shocked herself from the short outburst.

"Just listen, I'm about to offer you the deal of a lifetime." She ended with a smile, her way of thinking everything is okay again.

"Wow mom, that's great. Really. But I have to go. You put up a real good fight." I smiled in return the pointed at my burning face.

"No, Gracie, please. I need you to hear me out-"

"You need me to hear you out? Seriously? What nerve you have."

"Gracie wait! You have to! Okay, fine, I'm sorry."

"I don't have to do crap. And that apology is very convincing by the way" I said with an eye roll.

"Goodbye, Bellatrix." I said.

I hope you get caught sneaking back into Azkaban, I thought.

As I walked to my door with all of my belongings, I turned around one last time to maybe be lucky enough to see a heartbroken face, but she was already gone.
