Homeroom

I arrive at school on my bike just before the bell rings, and I rush inside to homeroom and sit down in my usual seat, right beside Thi.

"Hey," I whisper to him, as my homeroom teacher began calling roll. "Hey" he replies. About halfway through roll, someone startes to poke me in my side repeatedly or rather jabbing.

"Hey duffus, drop anything precious lately? Or perhaps ruin a bunch of people's day yet?" he snarls, too quiet for anyone else except him, me, and Thi could hear.

Beck, my co-captain and old friend, who like everyone else believed that I was a burden. Someone else joined in and poured coffee down my shirt, to which I simply ignored. It had been like this for the past  year.

Most of my clothes either had stains, or had been stolen in gym. I used to make a huge fuss about, but that only made it more enjoyable for them. With Thi's help, I am able to wreak revenge, so for the most part there aren't very many confrontations. I have no idea what I would do without my best friend Thi these past few years; probably nothing really. I might have gone into a depression. Who knows? I surely don't.

Let me explain to you, exactly how that girl ruined my life. About 2 years ago, I was on the  lacrosse team, co-captain and one of the most liked kids in the area when it happened. Last school year, we won the championship and we were quite proud of ourselves as this was the last game for some of us. We were all meeting up at Beck's house to celebrate our great victory.

There was surely alcohol floating around the house as many couples were celebrating, by eating each others faces; figuratively of course but you know what I mean.

I was still sober, seeing as I was underage and did not want to get into any kind of trouble. I was sitting out in the backyard of Beck's mansion staring out at the beautiful night sky. That is when I actually saw the girl that had haunted my dreams, to this day.

She smiled a sweet, and obviously sober, white smile as she brushed back her fiery blood red hair and asked to sit next to me, the only other sober person at the party. I took it all in: she was maybe 5 ft. 8 in. to my 6 ft. 1 in., and a soft pale whitish complexion, and eyes as green as the green grass of Mother Nature. "Sure" I said.

We began chatting and I learned that her name was Olivia. We were talking when it happened; I dropped the trophy, and that is when everything went to heck. I swear that I was not any kind of drugs, alcohol, or any other kind of shit that people did these days. Things really did appear out of nowhere, and yes gravity seemed to fluctuate all around us.

Olivia didn't look that surprised, as the ground shook around us, lights flickered, and a blue-purple circle appeared beneath us, swallowing us up. She smirked at me, putting on some kind of watch, when she yelled," I'll see you again love. Might not be this year, or the next but I will see you again real soon. Sooner than you think."

That was the last I saw as well as heard of her, as I blacked out. Later, I woke up in an alley near my school where I met my friends, who seemed a bit... off. The next thing I knew, they were all beating me with bats and clubs. Luckily, I slipped away to stumble home. From there, it was history as I later learned that I had disappeared for nearly an entire year as my reputation plummeted until it stopped where it is now. I had originally had a spike of anger toward Olivia because like anyone else, I demanded a reason as to why she had stolen 2 years of my life.

Eventually, I decided letting it go was for the best. Thi remained my only faithful friend all these years. A bang in the front of the classroom, causes me to snap my head to the front of the class only to meet my young, new teacher's eyes. I flinch as I remember how ruthless she is when it comes to punishments.

There were detentions, public humiliations, handcuffs, even  physical punishments which I was pretty sure was not legal but she always got away with it, and well the list goes on for a great amount of time but you get the picture. Imagine the devil, wearing a wig, women's clothes, and perfume to which you can then multiple the amount of CRAZY within by a million. She was that bad.

"Mr. Wellston, is there something that you would like to tell the class? " she asks, with an evil, and crazy grin. I had no idea, who had decided to let this women, wait I take it back, this monster, teach such wonderful children like  myself. (Note the sarcasm there).

"Of course not, Ms. Mallops. I am just preparing myself for this ENJOYABLE and INSPIRATIONAL class. I was also considering how this class will benefit me in my future." I sat with a serious face with my eyes bulged out.

Meanwhile, right next to me sat Thi, trying his hardest to stifle a laugh with his hand inside his mouth. Unfortunately, Ms. Mallops saw him and like a vulture or any other predator, she swept in for a kill.

"Mr. Santos, you’re one of the worst. You are disobedient, disrespectful, and you never know when to stop. I believe that I am going to have to---"

Bang!

The door to the classroom slammed open as the principal, Mr. Goins, walks in with a paper; a paper that meant we had another new student. Great.... "Ms. Mallops, if you please. Class, I am here today to introduce a new student that we really would like you all to welcome. Her family has sadly, all perished in a fire."

"So class, let me introduce you to your new student, Olivia Pashter. Olivia. Class. Class. Olivia." Mr Goins stepped aside as I watched HER come in. The girl who had caused me all kinds of trouble and had somehow stolen a year of my life away. She met my eyes as she passed me to take a seat right behind Thi, but not before whispering to me with a naughty smirk, "Hey love, miss me much? Hope you were a good boy.."

I growl at her and try to express my anger at her through my eyes, but it is for naught. She just laughs a cute little laugh and turned her attention to Ms. Mallops for the next 10 minutes. I am glancing at her every so often, trying to figure her out and what exactly was her game. A moment before, I saw her  curl her hair around her little finger, and smile a beautiful smile each time she caught me looking at her.

I--Wait what?, When did I begin to think that her laugh was cute? Or that her smile was beautiful? And why as I glancing at her in the first place? Yeah, she had haunted my dreams but still it was kind of strange seeing as I didn't know much about her, and seeing as she probably had been lying to me from the beginning on that night years ago.  Just trying to remember before or after that night, gives me an aching feeling throughout my entire body.

Ugh, must be the morning grogginess...

Anyways, Thi made sure to talk to me after class as he wondered why I hadn't done anything about Olivia being here, but I don't want to confront her here, which is what I told him. He backed off, but he told me to call him when it got "serious". I wasn't sure what he meant or was implying, but I said yes just to get him to go away.

I have to take care of things myself. I need answers that only one person could answer for me. One person who could tell me about my missing years: the one I couldn't remember and the year that I was literally, not able to be found. It was time for a chat with a specific girl. I was going to have to have a chat with the girl who called me "love": Olivia Pashter.
