In the Void

Have you ever had that weird moment where you're in a room full of faces from your history? No? Well, I have and its never been that great in the first place. I felt their pain, their agony, and their happiness. This is what I encountered within the Void. At least, that's what Olivia told me it was called later. This was  place where you could forget who you were, and where the future and past could be scrambled.

"What is this place?" Thi had exclaimed. Him and I were standing in a black landscape behind Olivia. I looked around and I couldn't see anything; but I kept hearing voices. I'm not crazy. Neither is Olivia or Thi for that matter.

"This is the Void. It's the place in between every reality and time." she said, somehow looking at something in the distance.

I turned to the left and then I was in my room at home in my bed thrashing around...then I was at school after hours being beaten up...I walked a bit to the right, and suddenly I could not see, hear, or even smell. It was as if I no longer existed in the physical sense. I was outside of my body within the Void peering out at myself.

A blackness descended upon my vision. I watched as I saw myself walking with Olivia. We were smiling; laughing even. We looked happy. We were currently  in a forest tramping towards an ominous looking town residing upon a mountainside.

"Olivia, I can't believe that you did that. I mean, you could have just pushed them away instead of throwing him!" he(or rather I) exclaimed. They both laughed at that.

"Come on you silly boy you know me. I like to assert myself clearly. Anyways, let's go we have to go meet the Duke of America."

We trudged onward at a consistent pace, with our backs to the setting sun. There was a flash off to the side and then they faded away along with the scenery as I snapped back to the present with a sense of confusion. Where am I? Who am I? What am I doing?

"Hey. Hey. Hey buddy, get UP. We have to hurry." Thi's voice snapped me back to the present. That's right, I was here to see my supposed sisters.

"Thi be easy on him, he was out longer than we were. Actually, nearly a day later." I sat up in a bed to see Thi and Olivia in different clothes that were pretty normal.

We were in a brown colored Victorian room, with a single twin sized bed, 2 chairs beside it, a gray metal door, and a long rectangular window.

Thi was wearing a red shirt underneath a blue-black fleece jacket and cut-off deep blue jeans. He had a worried grimace on his worn face and a weird book in his calloused hand while Olivia had a smirk and a joyful expression on her face with a glass of water in her smooth delicate hands.

Olivia was wearing a deep maroon dress that went down mid-thigh with a V-shaped cut down the back that showed off her sculpted back...

"I was out an entire day! Then, what have you guys been up to? And have you met my sisters?"

"No. We've been waiting on you. Plus, we're still technically in the Void.." Unluckily, Olivia was  avoiding talking about my sisters. Thi was too. He was glancing out the window, seemingly looking for something.

"We are still in the Void? And stop avoiding talking about my sisters! I deserve to know."

Thi frowned. "Ok, ok. Yes we are in the Void, but it's kind of like an observatory when observe in distant space and which this place is shielded or hidden. We see the dimension we are in, but the people can't see us. Well, except for your sister. She came by a few hours ago somehow."

" Which one?"

Olivia grinned a smile worthy of the Cheshire Cat himself and sat down. "Your twin sister. In a sense at least.  You have a sister that is 16 years old and she is very different from you personality wise and appearance wise. She has long flowing black hair, green eyes like my own and that's her. The only thing the two of you have in common is probably your stubbornness. "

"And what did you do?"

"We didn't show her you specifically..  She just believes that we have something important of hers." They were both smiling now.

"What is it?"

"You obviously. Always you. Her long lost brother that she nor any of her sisters have ever met." I gaped at her as she and Thi chuckled at my exasperation.

"Wait, while I was out or unconscious I was in a forest with you Olivia.. and we were laughing on the way to see a.. Duke of America?"

Thi laughed at the title and went back to reading the book in his hands. At the same time, Olivia's smile disappeared off of her face. She looked away and grimaced. "I-I'll tell you some other time. Right now, your sisters need you."

Now I was clearly interested, as I jumped out of bed to look out of the window. I wondered exactly what she meant, but I would give her space. Besides, I needed it. I peered out the window to the city beyond. Outside, It looked just like home, but something didn't feel right about it.

The buildings were the same, people went to work as normal, the styles of clothing seemed the same... but wait. There by the telephone pole. It was...

An alien. A bloody stinkin' android alien. It or she had light whitish blonde hair and sparkling electric blue eyes; she was wearing a tan trench coat with brown cowboy boots. How did I know she was an alien? She quite literally had electricity sparking from her eyes. But that wasn't the most worst part. The worst part, was that she was staring across two whole streets straight at me.

"Olivia! Who--What is that?!"

Olivia trudged over to the window and peered out, scanning the streets with her eyes. "Where?"

"Right ther-" I glance back out the window to see that it was gone. It was as if it had never been there in the first place."Nevermind..."

My eyes traveled the streets once again, after Olivia went to go get us food and me clothes. Today looked like a Monday to me as people stumble along with weary eyes. I would understand that. Mondays are literally one of the ways life get's revenge upon us.

What surprised me though, was the lack of cellphones in peoples' hands.

There would always be several people hurrying to work after accidently waking up late. Weird... A few minutes of dizziness later, Olivia came back with food that looked like it was for the military, which has led me to assume this world was not that great after all. I decided not to eat it.

I continue staring out the window, watching the people while Olivia and Thi ate the "great food". Their words, not mine. Occasionally I would see a flash of electric blue and I would whip my head to the side to see it, but I could never actually look at it straight on. Ah well...

A haze descends upon the room, and I begin to hallucinate..? I don't know. As I begin to scream bloody murder like I have done for the past few years, I can hear an evil-like chuckle resounding in the room mixed with sorrow and grief. My eyes begin to close until I hear my friends calling my name, telling me to not give in; not for anything.

It feels as if someone is continuously pounding on me from above, with the force of gravity on their side. Olivia and Thi feel it to, but barely. They try to fight it but to no avail. Now, the air is blowing around us with no consistent pattern, and blocking every exit from this room.

I guess it's my turn to try. I struggle to stand up, but collapse under the weight of heavens. "THI!!!!"

Thi tries to rush over to me through the fog but can't. His eyes widen at me as my face contorts with pain and sleepiness. The wind stops and the fog lifts, but I can still feel it. It is as if this was designed just for me.

My eyes begin to droop with weariness once again, and as the world fades away, Thi screams my name, Olivia dives onto the ground in an attempt to catch me, both of them failing to grab me. I peer upward to see a dark blue-black shadow cover us all and then my eyes close.

I hit the ground, open my eyes  with my remaining energy, and  see both of them  staring at me on the ground with teary eyes which makes me believe that this is indeed the end. I literally see my entire life flash before my eyes and feel the last breath of life leave my chest, leaving me able to only think my own thoughts; yet, all I can think is:

Who am I?
