I sat with my arm draped loosely around her shoulders, she leaned beside me as I read to her, slowly and carefully, making sure that she understood every word,

"You know, Gaeilo, Macky reads to me sometimes,"

"Does he now?" I replied looking at her sparkling eyes at the mention of his name. She nodded and a confused frown crossed her face,

"But I always end up falling asleep and waking up just as he finishes." I couldn't help but laugh,

"So I am better than the masterpiece that is McGillis Fareed" she giggled childishly,

"Perhaps. Did you know that Macky was the only child to read actual books at school?" She asked and played with a little strand of hair,

"I know, I watched him. He was always such an interesting boy but I read too, sometimes." I laughed slightly and hugged her closer,

"I bet Macky was a beautiful boy and never had any rough patches like me." She looked down at her hands that were folded over one and other with a trained precision,

"Oh Almiria," I said, "you are beautiful, you always have been and always will be."

"Are you sure? I'm just worried that I'm not good enough for Macky and I..."

"Stop with this nonsense. You know that McGillis loves you very much, reguardless of your age or what you look like, don't you?" I watched her slowly and slightly, but surely nod. "Besides, you have to be beautiful because people say you look like me!" We both dissolved into giggles, yet the sentences made me sick to the bone, even though I didn't know that they weren't true and in a selfish and evil way, I almost hoped that they weren't.
