FOUR YEARS LATER...
"Lisa?" Mom calls out and I start jogging down the stairs, ignoring her altogether and start eating my breakfast, consisting of pancakes and coffee. "You will be late, again." She sighs and looks away from the clock on the wall. Her emerald eyes land on me and start inspecting me. I look up and cold-heartedly smile at her. Her blonde hair is up in pony-tail and her emerald orbs aren't leaving me.
"I know." I mumble incoherently and roll my eyes. I get pup, not finishing my meal and take my school-bag, which is filled with everything but school supplies. It has been four years since her death and is still can't forgive my parents for that. "I will be late today." I say as I open the door.
"Where are you-" I don't let her finish as I close the door behind me and start going down the raspy road. Dust particles are flying in the air, making me choke while breathing. I start going down to the school's direction, but change my routine in the last moment, going in the old and ruined district of the city. No one steps in here since Cupid's death, which makes this place ideal for me.
I walk past Cupid's memorial, without giving it a single glance. The flowers and candles are still here. Candles are old and can't be used because of being here for four years in rains and storms. While flowers are rotten and dead. No one has been here, not even my parents. Since her death, they act as if she has never even existed.
I push open one of the doors of many abandoned buildings and step inside dimply lighted room. This place used to be Cupid's hideout. And now I have occupied my dead sister's place.
"Lisa!" Marcus, my best and only friend exclaims as I step inside and close the door behind me. "You are late, again!" He says in annoyed voice and pushes his jet black hair away from his chocolate brown eyes.
He sits in front of the large monitors and stares at the streets of my city. He has been helping me since her death. Even though, he doesn't seem like one, he is real genius, especially when it comes to technical stuff. He fixes his eyes at the keyboard and continues typing something.
"Anything new?" I ask in hopeful voice, but look down disappointed the minute he shakes his head.
"Nope, nothing." He says with a defeated sigh and continues looking at computers. My sister left pretty nice base behind her. It is full of computers, large monitors, keyboards, training grounds and weapons. "Your parents are taking care of minor bandits, but there is nothing more than that."
"Sure, they can only do that." I say in annoyed tone. "Take care of minions."
"Hey, give them some break." Marcus chuckles and looks at me. "Maybe you should fight them as well? For practice? and to make yourself known to the humanity?"
"Nah, thanks but I am good here." I say with amused smile on my face. "I don't want to waste my time on something minor. I want something big, something serious, something my parents can't handle."
"Something like Basilisk?" He asks and I nod eagerly. "Lisa... We have been searching for him for years! And there is no lead going to him. That's why people decided that he died! He disappeared."
"I know he isn't dead." I say in low voice. "I just know it." I whisper again and shake my head.
"Anyways..." He starts after minute of awkward and deadly silence. "How's your practice?"
"Better than before." I murmur and sigh. "I still have some difficulties in controlling them, but I am becoming better as time goes by." I admit and sit in one of the chairs near the table, where Marcus is working. "It's hard though."
