Chapter 3
“And what do you think you're doing out of school?!”
“Shit!” I swear under my breath.
It's my mum and she's spotted me sunbaking on the beach while Jay is swimming. I cringe before slowing removing my hat from my face.
“Haha! You should see the look on your face,” It was Naks, I should’ve known she is great with impressions especially of my mum.
“I should’ve known it was you. Anyways why aren’t you at school?” I asked curiously.
“I should be asking you the same question but I can already see why you’re here.” She looks at me sternly but can’t hold the look for too long before she bursts out laughing.
Naks could never be serious she was always the funny one.
She had medium black hair that was always tied up and gorgeous eyes.
“What would that reason be?” I look her directly in the eyes.
“To let Jay flirt with the backpackers in their bikinis,” she looks at me and shrugs her shoulders as if it’s no big thing.
“Yep,” I smile until I realise what she just said,
“Wait, What! Flirting with the backpackers! Oh that’s it. That is the third time today and I threatened him I would break up with him and I stick to my threats, you know that from experience.”
I take a big breath in and walk over to Jay. I really didn’t want to do this but I don’t want a boyfriend that could leave me at any moment for some little bimbo of a backpacker.
“Jay Simons!” I yell as I’m walking over. I know he knows what’s about to happen because he looks to the ground.
“Yes? Babe. Ple,” He tries to explain but I quickly cut him off.
“Not a word. You’re dumped!”
I storm back over to Naks trying to look angry but really on the inside I’m crushed. I grab my stuff and continue over to the stairs back to the pathway.
“C’mon, I’ll drive you back to my place and I’ll call Emily and Jacinta.” Naks was the only one out of all of us who owned a car so she was basically our chauffer or taxi driver whatever you wanted to call it.
All I could do was nod, I was afraid that if I said anything I would break down into tears. Naks opens the door to her blue Mercedes Benz and I climb into the passenger seat.
It’s about a thirty minute drive to Naks house from the beach. When Naks finally hops in she immediately tunes the radio into our local station Sea FM 101.9 for the Hot 30 count down.
My eye lids get heavy and slowly close as I drift into a deep sleep.
---------/-------/---------
“Tanisha, Tanisha. Come on girl wake up we’re here.” I get rocked back and forth in an attempt to wake me up.
I slowly open my groggy eyes not really wanting to wake up because I was so comfortable. I soon realise why it was so comfy, I was lying on Naks queen sized bed.
“How did I get on to your bed?” I look around question layered my eyes. While I looked around I saw Jacinta and Emily and gave them a weak smile.
“My brother Austen carried you from the car. Luckily it was before you started your dribbling act,”
Naks explains letting out a little laugh afterwards which is followed by a contagious giggle from Jacinta that made me burst out laughing and I had to sit up so I could breathe properly.
Great! I think to myself, I look like a complete weirdo when I’m asleep and Naks gorgeous brother, who is single by the way, had to pick me up in his muscular arms and carry me to Naks room.
I’m
Such
An
Idiot
Jacinta leans over and whispers in my ear, “Don’t worry about Austen, he actually said you looked really cute when you’re sleeping.”
I left out a big sigh of relief. I have always had a thing for Austen and you can’t blame me either he is only two years older than me.
“What’s the time?” I asked wondering how long I was asleep for.
“It’s three thirty,” Emily says looking down on her IPod.
“Sugar Honey,” I say as I quickly jump up off the bed and pull my phone out of my pocket, “I should tell my mum where I am!” I continue to freak out as I frantically type a text to my mum telling her where I am.
“It’s okay, I got Austen to call your mum and tell her you were sleeping over mine so we can do some on our English essay and then go to the movies,” Naks explains calmly to me while trying to calm me down.
Holy jeez, Austen talked to my mum, Austen, Austen talked to my mum. I’m practically screaming on the inside.
“Umm…. Okay. What English essay and can we watch the Hunger Games at the cinemas?” I love the Hunger Games it’s my all-time favourite movie ever since it came out.
“We got it given to us today it’s about Harry Potter,” Emily slips in she is absolutely in love with Harry Potter.
I hear footsteps and then a head pops around the corner, “If you girls want to go to the movies I suggest you get a move on or you’re going to miss the final showing for the day. “It was Naks’s mum.
“Okay. We’ll all get ready right now.” Jacinta tells her.
“Dibs on the shower first,” I cut in I always had to shower first no matter where I was it was just something I did.
