The screams of anguish and the thud of bodies hitting the floor echoed around them, as Luna and Harry were locked in a tight embrace. “Harry, I’m scared,” Luna mumbled into Harry’s shoulder. Harry looked down at Luna’s hair, which had been dirtied greatly in the past few hours. He was scared as well, but could he admit it? Most the people here were putting on a brave face because he wasn’t panicking. If he started, would they? Would it create more chaos then there already is? But he could tell Luna. If there was anyone except Ron and Hermione who he could trust, it’s Luna. “I’m not going to lie, Luna, I am as well,” “Are you going to give yourself up to him?” Luna asked, suddenly pulling away from Harry. Staring into her round eyes, again he found it was too hard not to trust her. But could he hurt her with the truth? “Luna, I-” Harry’s sentence was disturbed half way through as a loud crash made him whip his head around. To his absolute horror, he saw a massive Acromantula climbing through a hole in the wall. “Luna, RUN!” But Luna didn’t need telling. The second she had saw the Acromantula she had grabbed Harry’s hand and was pulling him further down the hall. Sprinting faster than Harry thought was physically possible, they were at the Great Hall in no time. Luna came to a halt and Harry joined her. She looked up at him and Harry knew instantly what was coming. The Acromantula had been a small distraction from her question, and however much he loved Luna, he don’t think he can hurt with the truth. “Harry, you didn’t answer my question. Will you give yourself over to him?” Luna asked the question, and as she did she stared directly into his eyes. Answering the question as quickly as possible so as to break the eye contact, Harry lied. “No,” His voice was hoarse, and didn’t sound anything like his own. Luna started drifting towards the Hall, leaving Harry just... standing there. Hesitating for a moment, Harry decided to enter the hall after her. He wished he hadn’t. All around were dead bodies. As if the fact that they died for him wasn’t enough, it made Harry want to be sick that most of these people who have died he had the most amazing relationships with. Remus and Tonks were lying side by side, still holding each others hands even in death. Walking down the aisle, he saw many more familiar faces, including Colin Creevey. He must have snuck into the action, McGonagall would never have let Colin into the battle. At the bottom of the Great Hall Harry saw a group of redheads huddled around something on the floor. He knew them redheads. It was the Weasleys. A lump rose into Harry’s throat. He had known the Weasleys since first year. Luna surprised him by tapping on his shoulder. Harry jumped and turned around to face her. “Who is it? Who has...” Harry couldn’t finish the sentence, but Luna knew what he meant. This was the first time Luna couldn’t look Harry in the eye. Luna mumbled something, but Harry couldn’t quite catch it. “Luna, please, I need to know,” Luna swallowed. Harry could tell she wasn’t expecting to be the one to break the news. “Fred.” No. Harry couldn’t handle it. Before he knew what he was doing, he was out of the hall and walking down the front lawn of the castle. “Harry! Harry, stop!” Harry ignored Luna’s words. He had made his mind. No one else is going to die. Not for him.
Luna watched Harry walk further and further into the distance. She knew where he was going. And there was nothing she could do. The man she loved was walking towards his certain death, and she could do nothing. She has never felt more vulnerable and helpless. “Hey,” She knew that voice. “Hello Draco,” Luna choked out. “Hey, what’s the matter?” Luna nodded towards the place where Harry disappeared. Without warning, tears began running down Luna’s face. “Hey, Luna, don’t cry!” Draco put his arm around Luna’s shoulder. “Draco... I loved him. I loved him, and now he is going to die and there is nothing I can do!” She turned towards Draco and started sobbing into his chest. “Luna I... Luna, I know this is probably a bad time, but I have a confession to make. And as I will probably be dead in the morning, I might as well say it now,” He gave an awkward laugh. “What is it?” Luna asked, trying to dry her eyes with the end of her sleeve. “Luna. When I first laid eyes on you, I knew. I knew that you were the girl for me,” Draco paused for a moment. “Draco, what are you saying?” “Luna, what I am saying is that... well... Luna Lovegood, I love you!”
