When I woke up my mom was next to me.

"Kelly, didn't you hear me? I said come down stairs and meet an old friend of mine. I'm having them over for diner so come down stairs.”

By time I got down stairs the table was set and my mom was showing the guest to their seat when I got to the table I greet them

"Hello, I'm Kelly" I shook the woman hand first.

"Hi. I'm Diana."

Then I greeted the man I said "Nice to meet you sir."

"The pleasure’s all mine, young lady. I'm Clark and this is our son, Nate.

"Hey, nice to meet you Kelly." He was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. He had crazy dark hair and wild blue eyes and his smile was a white as fresh paper "Um, Kelly, I said it’s nice to meet you."

"Um, yeah, it's nice to meet you too, Nate."

My mother came into the room "Okay, everyone. Who's hungry?"

We all sit down at the table. My mom thought it would be sweet to put Nate next to me. I can't lie, if I thought that voice was weird. I'd think he was weirder. He has the same voice as the man who had revived me, just more edgy.

"How old are you?" Nate turned to me as I took my second bite of my mom's mouthwatering lasagna.

"Fourteen, you?"

"Fifteen. You look older than fourteen."

"Thanks, I guess. I get that a lot."

He turned back to his food noticing that this conversation was obviously going nowhere.

Our parents had been talking all night talking about only god knows what after diner we sat down in the living room my mom looked at us and said "Kelly, why don't you show Nate around I bet you guys are tired of hearing us talk."

So I took Nate on a tour of the house "Well, you saw the living room, and the dining room. This is the kitchen. Come on, I'll show you the upstairs. This is the bathroom, and the rest is my mom’s room, game room, and my room that’s pretty much it.”

I can feel the awkwardness in the air until he finally said something to me.

"I know you." He's staring at me while my back is turned on him.

"Umm... Yeah... We kind of just met."

"I've known you for a while Kelly. I feel it. I've seen your face in my dreams before. I've seen you in places that I'd never thought I would be able to. I know that you've been in my life, as well as I have been in yours."

I stood there, stunned. I went to open my bedroom door, but he grabbed my arm before I could even reach the handle.

"If you're going in, I'm going with you."

I want to yell out bloody murder, but I know my mom would just think I'm overreacting. “Who are you?" I whisper over my shoulder. I feel him get closer to me, and my heart races faster than it should.

"I don't know about me, but I know about you."

I feel his chest on my back. I start going cold. What is this? Who is he? "Who am I?"

"You're the girl I was sent to protect." A million questions come into my mind, but just as I'm about to ask them, my mom calls out.

"Kelly, Nate's family is leaving. Say your goodbyes. They’ll be back tomorrow!"

I feel him loosen the grip on my arm and slowly walk away from me. "Until tomorrow Kelly." And just like that, he left.
