I looked up and almost jumped out of my seat. “Jared?” I asked.
“Yep, it’s me, Kayla,” he said.
“I didn’t know you lived here,” I said.
“Moved in with a friend,” Jared explained. “What about you?”
“Mom married again, and the tool made me move in with his son,” I said.
“Who is it?” he asked.
“Devin,” I said.
He scowled and looked at me. “You’re living in a house with six guys?”
“Yeah, they aren’t that bad,” I said.
“Mr. Hicks and Ms. Hamilton, please pay attention to the class and stop talking,” the teacher said.
“Yes ma’am,” we replied.
The class went by and as the bell rang I gathered my stuff together. I felt someone put their arms around me, and I turned around to see Jared behind me.
“I’ve missed you,” he said turning me around and crushing me to him.
“Bubba, let me go!” I gasped.
“Sorry, sissy,” he said releasing me.
“I have to get to art,” I said walking to the door.
“Okay, see you in the parking lot,” he said kissing my head before walking away.
“Why did he just kiss you?” Devin growled from behind me. I turned to see Devin, Jax, Jason, Mark, Blake, and Chad behind me with their arms crossed over their chest.
“Because he can,” I answered. This time Jax growled and clenched and unclenched his hands. I shook my head and continued. “Jared is my step-brother from my mom’s 2nd marriage. I lived with him until I was 14,” I exclaimed.
“Oh,” Jax said visibly relaxing.
"Can I go now? I'm gonna be late for art," I said.
"That's where we are all headed," Jason said.
"Crap," I whispered opening my locker and taking out my supplies.
We headed to class and sat down at the same table as the teacher walked in. The teacher turned and looked at us. As our eyes met I gasped. I jumped up and ran to him.
"Damon!" I yelled throwing my arms around him.
Thank god it was mostly just the guys and me in here. The few other people were Derek, Jared, Brad, and Jase.
"Kayla," Damon said, "it's been a while."
"Yeah," I said. "Jazz looks more like you every day." I pulled away and looked at him. "You took your lip rings out!"
"Can't be a teacher with them," he explained. "I see you took all of yours out except your ears."
"Mom made me. I'ma have them back in tomorrow," I promised.
"Nice," he said. "Now go sit down, Ky, I need to start class."
"Fine," I said walking back to my table.
"Okay, so as you know my name is Damon," he said. "Today you guys can just talk and do whatever you want."
I jumped up and ran over to his desk. "Can I get on your computer?" I asked sweetly.
"Why?" he inquired.
