After weeks of talking, finally it had come to Skype calling. Dina waited at her computer, wishing, waiting. The California sun was streaming through the window, washing over Dina, adding to the warm feeling she already had. The tone rang out and Dina hurried to answer it.
"Hey!" Her face lit up at the sight of Lorens face. She took in every detail, from her messy blonde hair to the freckles delicately covering her cheeks. Dina took one of her own jet black curls and began to twist it around her finger- a nervous habit she couldn't escape from.
"Hi!" Loren laughed , a warm giggle that made her bright blue eyes sparkle. "Oh my god, is that what I sound like? I'm just gonna apologise in advance..." She smiled, tilting her head slightly . She too was in awe of Dina's features, the warm brown eyes which caught the sun just right, turning a more golden colour as the rays hit them.
"It's fine, I'm the dorky 'Murican," Dina rested her chin on her hand, looking into the screen at the girl before her.
"So, how was your day?" Loren bit at her thumbnail anxiously, unsure of what to say. She hated communicating face to face, always feeling awkward and out of place.
"Um...well, it just started, but I had waffles so it can't be that bad I guess?" Loren ran a hand through her hair, letting it slip through her fingers.
"Waffles make everything better, of course!" A shout was heard on the other end and Dina rolled her eyes.
"We're going to the store, my mom says I have to leave the house. Something about being a vampire? I don't know? I don't think I'm pale enough for that," She rolled her eyes again, "we'll talk later, okay? Peace."
Loren had a warm fuzzy feeling, so excited that when her head hit the pillow it simply filled with thoughts. But these were good thoughts. They weren't intimidating and overwhelming, they were happy. Yet something still filled her with dread. She thought back to how happy Dina had made her feel,
"Am I in love?"
