“Hey.”
A voice whispered causing me to wake up. As I opened my eyes I saw that it was Tyler. I sat up in my bed.
“If my dad knew you were up here he’d kick your butt.”
Tyler chuckled and kissed me “I think I’m willing to take the risk.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I can’t sleep.”
I smiled and brushed my hand through his hair “Is it because you are going to get the Stanley Cup in three hours.”
“I think so.” He said as he crawled into my bed.
I traced my fingers up and down his arm “I’m really proud of you.”
“I know.”
Tyler ran his hand over my hair. I just loved the little moments like this we shared. We’ve been only dating for a week but it’s been the greatest week of my life.
Tyler looked me in the eyes and sighed “I can’t believe that I’m going to have to leave for training camp in five days.”
I sighed “I know but let’s not worry about that right now.”
He nodded his head “Okay.”
I smiled and kissed him “I love you.”
He smiled “I love you too.”

I sat down in the lobby of the hotel and watched as Tyler signed autographs. I smiled at how much he had accomplished in the last few years. Just then that was when I saw a car pull up. I looked over at Tyler and saw a smile creep across his face as he made his way outside.
I stood up and watched as Tyler grabbed ahold of the Stanley Cup. His face just glowed of happiness as soon as he saw it. I couldn’t help but smile while seeing Tyler pass the cup around to his family. While watching that was when I saw Tyler looking at me. He smiled and motioned for me to come outside.
I nodded and as soon as I walked out there I felt Tyler place his arms around my waist. He rested his head on my shoulder.
“I want for you to hold it next.” He whispered.
I smiled “Really?”
He pecked my lips “Really.”
Paul stood in front of me with the Stanley Cup in his hands. “Are you ready?”
I nodded and that was when I felt the silver embrace my hands. I could not believe I was holding the Stanley Cup. THE STANLEY FRICKIN CUP! All of the great ones that got to touch this very cup, and I was able to hold it. Holding the Stanley brought back an urge in me, I haven’t felt in years. The urge to play hockey.
I turned to Tyler and handed him the Stanley Cup. He grabbed it from me “It looks good on you.”
Tyler laughed and that was when he said “I’ve got to go to the hospital and show the kids the cup. I’ll see you in a few hours.”
I nodded and kissed him on the cheek “Yeah I’ll see you later.”
He smiled and got into the car. As he got fastened into his seat, he mouthed ‘I love you’. I smiled and mouthed the same thing back.
8:55 PM
I walked into the arena and saw Tyler standing in the middle of the rink with the Stanley Cup beside him on the table. I wanted to join him but if so then I’d be breaking my own promise. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. “Just suck it up.”I walked over to the shop counter and grabbed a pair of ice skates.
