Chapter 29: Friends and Foes

"Crap, crap, CRAP!!!" sigaw ko bago ako tumakbo palayo. Halos lahat kasi ng participants eh tumakbo papunta sa direksyon ko.

Now that we are on the field, there will be no places to hide anymore. Everyone is exposed. Mahirap din na makapag-focus dahil sa ingay ng mga nanonood.

"This is bad! This is bad! I don't want my efforts to be put to waste!" sigaw ko.

"That's why you have to give your points to me," biglang sabi ng isang boses.

The soil in front of me rose and formed into a shape of a human. Hindi ko na hinintay pa na maging tao 'yun at tumakbo na agad ako sa ibang direksyon.

"Everyone is just going after Lunaria! What will he do now?!"

Mukhang na sa 'kin ang atensyon ng lahat ng mga participants. I couldn't even find RB. Masyadong malaki ang field para mahanap ko siya. At hindi ko rin alam kung may iba pa ba akong kaklase na nasa field pa rin.

"Think!" sigaw ko.

My legs suddenly stiffened and I fell on the grass with a loud thud. Someone must've paralyzed my legs. I just desperately tried to crawl away.

"And he's down! He's down! What will he do now?!" sigaw ni Professor Ferrea.

"Thank you for earning so many points," sabi bigla ng isang lalaki na lumalapit sa 'kin. He kept his hand pointed to me as he walked quickly towards me.

"DAMN IT!!!" I screamed as I pointed my fingers to him. Bahala na kung ano ang mangyari sa katawan ko pero hindi ko hahayaan na makuha lang nila nang basta-basta ang mga puntos na pinaghirapan ko.

Breathe deep, relax, clear you mind of all thoughts...

A wall of ice suddenly blocked the guy's path. The crowd screamed in unison.

"What the-"

A metallic rope suddenly wrapped around my waist and lifted me off the ground. My legs went back to normal the moment that I was lifted.

RB and Jack were flying high above us. Hawak-hawak naman ni Jack si Alice. Binato niya ako papunta kay RB na sinalo naman ako agad.

"What are you doing?!" sigaw ko sa kanila.

"Saving you, duh!" sagot naman ni Jack.

"CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! HERE GOES THE REMAINING 1-A STUDENTS!!! TALLA, ABAREÑAS, AND ACHILLERIO TEAMED UP TO SAVE LUNARIA!!! THIS IS SO FUN!!!"

Mayroon ding mga pakpak na gawa sa yelo si Jack. Napatitig na lang ako sa kanya habang lumilipad kami.

"How did you do that?" tanong ko kay Jack sabay turo sa mga pakpak niya.

"Well, hindi lang ikaw ang naghahanda para sa event na 'to. RB taught me this technique. But man, that shockwave earlier was so cool! I'm pretty sure you've got everyone's attention with that!" sagot niya.

"Pero pa'no na ang rank ninyo? You should earn points, too!" sabi ko.

"Don't worry about it. We're pretty much in safe spots now. Lahat tayo nasa loob na ng Top 16. Kailangan lang nating protektahan ang mga points natin hanggang matapos ang oras," sagot naman ni Alice.

"And the remaining 1-A students are just flying above all the participants! Lunaria is currently at number 1, Abareñas is at number 2, Achillerio is at number 6, and Talla is at number 9! They are in pretty good positions now!" sabi ni Professor Ferrea.

Napatitig na lang ako kay RB na mahigpit lang na nakahawak sa 'kin.

Mula nung naging Top 1 siya sa ranking eh hindi na pumatay pa si RB ng kahit isang scavenger. He just focused on protecting me and helping me get into the Top 16. At dahil nga doon ay bumagsak siya sa ika-siyam na pwesto.
