Dear Diary,
As I got off the crowded train, I got handed a number that corresponded to the number on my luggage. But also when I was getting off, one of the Jew workers told me to volunteer. I don’t know what he meant by that, but I did anyways.
All female and male were put into two groups, separated from each other. There were a few men who walked around asking if there were any tailors, shoe makers, farmers, and so on. At that point I remembered what the worker had said, and I volunteered as a tailor.
After they had enough people, they made me and the others who volunteered stay back; while the rest were taken into the camp. I don’t know if I made the right decision of volunteering, but I’m sensing that there is a reason behind why the worker told me to volunteer in the first place.
Could he have saved my life?...
