Betty and Jughead meet at the beach🌞

Crash. Swish. Whoosh. The sound of multiple waves splashing together filled Betty's eardrums, along with the various voices of her friends. Her feet remained hugged in the sand, each grain warm and soft unlike it's true rocky identity. As she looked to the horizon she was greeted by radiant colours of pink, auburn, orange, reds and a tinted blue, the perfect sunset.

"Come on, B!" She looked towards the sound and identified it as her best friend, Veronica Lodge's voice. Veronica held a multi-coloured beach ball in her perfectly-manicured hands, the dark violet nails matching her dry bathing suit.

"Get over here, Betty!" Archie Andrews' voice yelled soon after, his ginger hair tossed around in the breeze and his sharp abs on full view, along with the V-lines partly covered by dark red trunks.

Betty giggled at the couple as she kicked the sand delicately around.

"In a minute!" She replied, receiving a confused look from Archie. Veronica, however, had a smug look on her tanned face as she nudged the tall red-head and said something to him which Betty couldn't quite hear, earning a light chuckle from Archie.

"Alright!" Archie laughed, shaking his head and proceeded to turn to Veronica, opening his muscly arms to indicate for her to toss the ball.

Betty smiled at her two friends' happiness, the smile then growing as she peered towards the aesthetic view of the horizon and sea. Bringing out her arms in a horizontal manner at each side of her body, she began spinning around in the cool heat. Her sun-kissed skin was caressed by the tender wind due to the access her white two-piece bathing suit had given it to her long tanned legs, arms and flat stomach. The blonde released a series of loud giggles, ecstatic and full of carefree joy.

Coming to the beach was a great decision for Betty to make. When Archie and Veronica had suggested a day out to the rule-abiding blonde, she had been hesitant. Her mother, Alice Cooper, had certainly let Betty know her opinion on days out with those "menacing" kids, but Betty had decided that she couldn't let her mother rule her life. So she told Alice where to stick it (not literally, obviously) and said yes to her friends. And thank God for that.

Betts came to a stop before she became dizzy, still laughing. She then proceeded to run towards the blue, sparkling ocean and submerge herself up to her knees in the inviting water. It was surprisingly chilled, perfect for the current heated atmosphere. Her slightly-scarred hand reached up to her soft hair and tugged on the bobble, letting down her tight ponytail. It was a reminder that she didn't have to be perfect all the time, and she had more to offer than what her mom wanted.

Ten minutes later, she was brought out of her thoughts by a gruff voice.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Betty was so deep in thought she hadn't even heard an unfamiliar splashing behind her, and so she turned around, startled. But she turned too quickly, and somehow one of her feet hurriedly sunk into the ocean bed. The next thing she knew, Betty had fallen onto her bottom and was now submerged in the water that now came up below her breasts, facing the culprit.

"Oh!" Betty looked up at voice and found it belonged to a boy, probably her age, with pasty skin, multiple moles dotted around his face, and dark hair which was partially covered by a grey, crown-like beanie. However the unusual beanie wasn't what had her attention, rather his tired-looking but incredibly attractive complexion, and god-like body. Stranger boy wore shorts like Archie's, but his were blue, and he also had an enticing body, however his was less show-offy, and perfectly sculpted. Betty was enchanted. Little did she know, he was thinking the same thing about her.

"I'm so sorry!" The boy apologised, a panicked look on his face, reaching out a long, hairy arm with large outstretched hands.

"It's-it's okay." Betty replied, still surprised, and took his hand hastily. As he pulled her up, it was his turn to lose balance. He reflexively stepped back, pulling her with him and accidentally forcing her to fall into his bare chest. She peered up at him startled, and saw he was looking at her differently now.

He seemed to be focusing on every part of her face, every detail, like she was the only woman in existence, like he was entranced by her. And Betty knew. She was looking at him with the same type of expression.

"Betty?" The bashful blonde jumped for the third time in the past five minutes. Archie stood close on the sand, staring at the two in anger that he was obviously trying to mask. Veronica lurked close behind him, confusion covering her face. Awkward.

Betty quickly sprung from the dark-haired beanie-clad boy's chest like he was on fire.

"Oh, Archie, Veronica... hey." She stumbled, flushed and embarrassed. "We were just... looking at the horizon. This is..." Her voice stopped as she realised she didn't know the name of this baffled stranger.

"Oh, Jughead." Jughead awkwardly waved, a small smile on his face.

"You by yourself... Jughead?" Archie raised his eyebrows, clearly not liking him or his strange name. You could cut the tension with a sharp shell.

"Erm, yeah actually. I like the beach and so I just came, I guess." He replied, scratching the back of his neck, embarrassed in front of these new people. Socialising was increasingly foreign for the shy boy, however, it had seemed relatively easy talking to Betty.

"Ok, we gotta go B." Veronica spoke up before Archie could interrogate anymore. Betty felt disappointed but nodded all the same.

"Right, well, goodbye Jughead." She smiled towards him, sweet and new, causing Jughead to feel warm, a different kind of warmth the weather was providing.

He watched curiously as the ginger boy grasped her arm and pulled her along behind the dark-haired girl. There was something about her that seemed to infatuate him. And he knew, that the goodbye she had softly spoken, wouldn't be the last time they talked.
