DoveSpirit's Quest

Chapter 4

     "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Ash Rock for a clan meeting!" Rang throughout the hollow as DoveSpirit was waking up. Dusk light shone through cracks in the bramble screen to the Warriors den. DoveSpirit got up and walked out into the clearing and walked over to beneath the Ash Rock. "Yesterday, several patrols reported a fox in the area." There were a bunch of gasps but BlueStar continued, "so we will have extra patrols. But, that is not the only reason I have called this meeting, we will have some new apprentices be joining us today."
     Three of the kits in the back squealed and there were a bunch of whispers behind DoveSpirit. Like, "I'm so excited!" and "eek!"
     "YellowKit, TroutKit, and CoralKit, please step up." When BlueStar said this, the warriors made a path for the kits. The kits half ran and half walked down the isle. When they got there BlueStar jumped down and said, "YellowKit, TroutKit, and CoralKit, you are six moons old and ready to be apprentices. So until you are warriors your apprentice names will be YellowPaw, TroutPaw, and CoralPaw. YellowPaw, your mentor will be MilkBelly. TroutPaw, your mentor will be RedAsh, and CoralPaw, your mentor will be DoveSpirit."
All the kits-well now apprentices, ran up to their mentors and touched noses with them. DoveSpirit was so excited, almost as excited as her apprentice. DoveSpirit closed her eyes and remembered what it was like to be an apprentice; hard work! "Clan Dismissed!" rang out throughout the hollow and the cats padded away to finish their work.
"Ok, CoralPaw, go get rest and tomorrow we will start training!" DoveSpirit purred, eyes gleaming with excitement.
