Addy walked into her brother's room and smiled at him as she saw that he was getting tailored for his coronation. She clapped her hands together and laughed happily. "It looks to good," she said cheerfully.
Ben gave her a look. "It'll look better the day of," he said and sighed.
She closed the door and walked over to his bed, throwing her bag onto it and sitting. "Yeah, yeah, I still don't have anything to wear," she said.
"Funny," he laughed. She looked at him. "You are kidding, right?" She shook her head. He gave her an almost scolding look.
She put her hands up in defense. "I haven't had the time to figure it out yet. I mean, there are colors to choose, accessories to pick, shoes to try on," she said.
He rolled his eyes. "Addy, this is in, what? A month?" he looked down at the tailor, who nodded once and continued to work. "This is important."
"I know that," she said and smiled at him. "I think I'm going to wear yellow and blue instead of blue and yellow."
"There's a difference?" he asked. She nodded. "Now I know why you take so long to get dressed," he joked. It was her turn to roll her eyes.
The door opened again and in walked the king and queen. King Adam and Queen Belle. They were so happy to see their children together. It was warm and loving and delightful.
"I still can't believe you're going to be crowned king next month," Adam said, marveling at his son proudly. "Just yesterday, you were a baby."
"Oh, honey, he's going to be sixteen," Belle said and smiled softly.
"Sixteen!" the former beast said, feigning shock. He smiled. "That's far too young to be a king. Why, I didn't make a good decision until I was 42."
Belle hit him lightly. "You married me a 28," she said.
He looked at her, smiling. "Well, it was either you or a teacup," he joked. He chuckled with his son before turning to his daughter. "And you, you're almost too old for me to do this."
He rushed at Addy and picked her up, spinning her around. The two laughed joyfully, Addy even throwing her arms up. She was put down a moment later and she leaned against the frame of the bed. She smiled at her family, getting her giggles out.
Ben looked down for a moment before nodding and taking a deep breath. He looked at his family and sighed. "Mom, Dad," he said, getting everyone's attention, "I've chosen my first official proclamation."
Addy was intrigued. This was something big, something different. Her father usually sat on one of those for a long time, even consulted a lot of people, "sidekicks" some called them. Her father never made a premature decision and so it was interesting, to say the least, to hear that Ben already had one cracked up in his head.
"I've decided that the children of the Isle of the Lost be given a chance to live here in Auradon," Ben said.
Belle dropped the jacket she was holding and Adam looked shocked. Addy looked at her parents, then to her brother. She wasn't expecting that.
Their father stepped forward. "The children of our sworn enemies living among us?" he asked.
"Dad," Ben said, looking at him. The tailor had stopped with his suit and left them. He threw his hand out to the window. "Everytime I look out there, I feel like they've been abandoned."
"So how are you going to do that?" Addy asked. She smirked and crossed her arms. She was so interested in what was going to happen.
"We start with a few, the ones that really need our help," he said.
"Who are their parents?" Belle asked.
Ben looked between them all. He pressed his lips together and nodded. "Cruella de Vil."
"Fashionably wrong," Addy commented.
"Jafar."
"Creep."
"Evil Queen."
"Beauty obsessed."
"And Maleficent."
"Maleficent!" Adam yelled, surprised.
"Dad," Addy said, looking at him. He looked at her and softened some.
"They deserve a chance at a normal life," Ben said, sighing. "Just hear me out."
"I will not hear of it," the king said, his voice more calm. He looked at his son. "They are guilty of unspeakable crimes."
"Their kids are innocent," Ben argued. He looked at his much taller father. "Dad."
Belle grabbed her husband's arm and he looked at her. "I gave you another chance," she said softly.
He looked at her, then looked at his son. "I suppose the children are innocent," he said. He looked at Addy, who was watching patiently. He nodded. "Well, well done."
With that, the two left. Addy looked at her brother, watching him move to the window. She crossed her arms. "That was impressive," she said, walking over. "You must really believe in this if you stood up to Dad like that."
Ben looked at her. "Do you think this is the right call?" he asked her. He had that lost puppy look in his eyes.
She looked at him and sighed. "I guess we'll find out," she told him and turned on her heel. She grabbed her bag.
"Well how do you feel about this?" he asked her.
"I'm indifferent. I won't make a judgement until I see something worth judging," Addy told him and walked to the door. "But just know that this is going to define the rest of your life and reign."
"I know," he said with a curt nod to her. He then watched her leave as well, and he was left to look out that window on his own.
