Ava:
I silently cried into Davinn's lime green American Eagle tee while we sit at the park bench. He strokes my hair and rubs my back in circles, while I try to calm down.
I try, but it isn't working.
I give myself a little pep talk and wipe my tears and finally look up at Davinn, ready to explain.
"You better, now?" He asks.
"Not really, but I can tell you." I whisper.
"Ok, shoot," he says spinning me around so I would be facing him.
"Well, ummm, my mom just told me, I'm moving......." It takes me a while to say the last two words," to Florida," I whisper.
Davinn just sits there. Like he just heard lollipops have been discontinued. (Lollipops are his favorite food).
"Well, nows a better time than ever, so I have something to tell you too." He says.
Crap. This can't be good, but yet I nod my head.
"Ok, well, I'm soooooooo sorry Ava, but I want to break up." He says, with no sympathy at all.
I don't know what to do.
So I stand up and run away from him, not looking back at all, ignoring his yells for me to come back or wait up.
I don't know where I'm going, but I'll find out when I get there.
After a bit I stop walking. And look to see where I am.
To the left I see a children's playground and to my right, a couple miles down, just what I was looking for.
The cemetery.
It not creepy, it's just where my best friend is.
I walk back to her tombstone and sit down beside it, as if it was just me and her again.
My best friend, Hailee, was coming home with me one night after volleyball practice when a fugitive from a jail 30 miles away walked up behind us and took her from right beside me. I screamed for help, but no one came. One of the reasons I hate trusting people. A few days later after all the interrogations were over, police from two counties over had found her. She was dead, from malnutrition and loss of blood, where the criminal had beaten her.
It was the most saddest thing that ever happened to me. I cried for over two weeks and didn't eat anything unless my parents made me.
Right now I sit beside her, crying like a baby, quietly screaming,"Why, why does everything happen to me!"
It's those little things that trigger you, just to cry. Your boyfriend breaking up with you. The fact that you're moving. And you leave your best friend back behind.
I hear someone clear their throat.
I don't look up.
"C'mon, please look at me." The body next to me pleads.
"Hmm." I mumble, still looking at the green grass.
"Please." It says again.
I give in and see, Seth, my second oldest brother.
He sits down beside me and engulfs me a huge hug.
"Hey, you'll be fine, you have me." He says into my hair.
"No, no I won't, you don't know half of it." I cry.
"So tell me." He says, messing with my hair.
"He broke up with me." I whisper, and he just looks at me.
"Excuse me, what'd you say?" He says.
