The bright sun rised as it's rays tickled Henaya's bruised face. She lazily opened her eyes in denial of the beginning of a new day. Though, she was a little confused: she never gets to sleep that long. She straightened herself while looking around. "Where are they?" she thought while an even more questioning look appeared on her face. Henaya got herself out of the stone-hard bed and started heading towards the door. When she was about to pull the doorknob someone else violently threw it open from the other side, almost hitting her. Two people, a guy and a girl, were staying there, slightly shocked over how close they were to hitting Henaya.
"Chanyeol, I told you to not be this reckless!" the girl frowned. "You could have hit her, and I am pretty sure that she is already bruised enough" she remarked with a tiny hint of annoyance in her voice.
"I am sorry, Hyoyeon. I really didn't mean to harm Henaya." Chanyeol apologizedly said.
"Idiot, you should tell her that, not me." the girl said while turning him around and pushing him inside.
"Guys, stop it. It's not a big deal." Henaya said as she signaled time-out.
The two guests took a seat on the bed that was on the other side of Henaya's. The room they were in could have been compared to a random cardboard box thanks to the simplicity of the design. By making an exception of the two old beds and an improvised wardrobe, the space was empty, therefore revealing the old walls that had mold and spider webs here and there.
"So..." Henaya began "Why didn't you come to wake me up earlier? As you usually do? I remember that today it was my turn to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen".
"Well, " Chanyeol started " we heard what happened to you yesterday so we decided it was time for you to take a day off."
Henaya sighed."When will these two understand that there is no need to bother." she thought.
The three of them were friends since they were really young and they weren't to be separated. They've been living in an Orphanage this whole time with few to none memories of their parents. The worst part of it all is that for a weird reason they were always discriminated and left out by the staff. Even the kids ignored them. Nobody would speak to them with the exception of the times they were ordered to do something. They lived their whole lives cleaning the dishes, washing everyone's clothes, cleaning the place like they were housemaids without the ability to protest. They were given the worst rooms in the building and they usually had to eat the left-overs. Furthermore, If they dared to misbehave, they would be harshly beaten by The Director. It was a living nightmare for them.
"But I still have some questions about that..." Chanyeol curiously said. "Rumors say that you went to The Main Office and The Director caught you. What were you doing there? You knew you were playing with fire."
"And if I remember correctly you never took big risks." Hyoyeon continues.
"I'm just fed up. That's it. All this time we've been mistreated and locked in this prison kind of place. We've never been on trips to the outside world like the others did, we've never had a day off, the ground is more comfortable than our beds. The only reason we got a new pair of clothes is that the old ones became to small to even put on. I don't want to spend the rest of my life like this." Henry said, frustration and anger pilling up in her voice.
Her two friends stared at her, no word coming up from their mouths.
"So yesterday as you know I was in charge of cleaning the main hall. As I was doing my job I saw The Director getting out of the Main Office without locking the door as usual. Therefore I took my chances and went in. Guess what I found inside" she finished while taking out from under the pillow a sliver heavy key.
"It can't be..."Hyoyeon and Chanyeol said in a chorus.
"Yeap, it is. The key to the outside world. All our hopes pilled up in one inanimate object."Henaya said.
"So what are we going to do now, weren't you caught by The Director?" Chanyeol asked.
"Yes I was but thankfully he hasn't realised yet that a key is missing, so we have to move fast till..." Henaya was interrupted by the big bang that the door made while hitting the wall. A care-taker entered the room and announced that the third corridor needs to be cleaned. Afterwards she exited as loudly as she entered. Living with no privacy was pretty hard.
"I'll go." Henaya said as she started walking towards the door.
"No, you stay here and rest." Chanyeol blocked her way.
"He's right, you have really deep wounds this time." Hyoyeon added.
"You both know well I am used to this, I can handle a few bruises and scratches." Henaya protested.
"A few?" Hyoyeon said while slightly lifting Henaya's shirt only to reveal multiple dark-purpleish places.
Henaya pushed her friend's hand away while taking a step back. "Can't I at least accompany you two?" she asked."And we still need to plan our escape." Henaya added in hope that that will be enough to convince them.
Hyoyeon and Chanyeol looked at each other and shrugged in defeat."Okay, you can come."
