One Day

One day I'll be famous,
And you'll copy what I wear.
It won't be today, no.
Maybe next year.
I'll mention my voice coach,
And she won't remember me.
She'll pretend, I suppose
Because I'll have money.

One day I'll be famous,
And you'll treat me differently.
You'll paint me on a canvas,
And think you're less than me.
I'll mention where my lessons were,
And you'll look it up.
They'll get more business there,
And I bet I'll say,"Fuck."

One day I'll be famous,
And you'll want an autograph.
You'll buy my shoes from Payless,
And you'll assume I'm an ass.
I'll mention where I grew up,
And it'll be put on the map.
I'll drink liquor from a cup,
And I'll still have a cat.

One day I'll be famous,
You'll act like I'm something special.
And you'll probably see me caving,
Then you'll know that I have issues.
I'm no better than you,
And you're no better than me.
But I bet when I'm famous,
I'll still wish to be free.

One day I'll be famous,
But I promise, it's still me.
I hope you can understand,
I'll be doing it just to eat.
I won't have any motives,
Making music is all I need.
And I'll never use a coating,
You'll see that I'm not happy.

One day I'll be famous,
And my fans will stand next to me.
They won't treat me like a god,
Because I'm just a human being.
Music is my life,
And I think it's what I'll do.
You'll listen to my strife,
And you'll know why I'm blue.

One day I'll be famous,
But I swear, I'm just like you.
I'll still write my music,
Words together like glue.
I'll still just be me,
And you'll see my worn out shoes.
I'll be the same as now,
And you'll know what I've been through.
