My alarm exploded into noise, shaking me from my pleasant dream of a handsome stranger and a hot tub. I rolled over and whacked the alarm several times until it stopped. I stretched and threw back the sheets, it was time.
I walked over to my shower and washed all of the sweat and grime from my deep sleep away. Next I flicked on the playlist I had prepared for morning starts and ended up dancing around my room to Shawn Mendes.
Kelly walked in, dressed similarly to how Maya had when I met her. "Almost ready," I said and she left the room. I stared in the mirror, the person looking back was a stranger to me. Her eyes were green and framed by long, thick lashes. Her silver hair fell in loose curls down to her waist. The tall girl was slightly tanned, as if shed tasted a summer sun but no more. She wore a loose fitting of the shoulder jumper that showed off a slight definition to her frame, high waisted jeans tight to the skin but even through the fabric you could see that she exercised enough. The yellow sneakers gave her a child like atmosphere, the only thing that still pulled her back to her sixteen year old state. For the first time in a long time, I saw the true me. Kaiya-San Madison Alcides, ready to conquer the world, well, metaphorically speaking.
"You look great Kai," Kelly remarked as I jumped off of the last step. I grabbed my bag that had been filled prior to the move, "thanks," I mumbled as Kelly grabbed the car keys. I squinted through the harsh glare of the sun. For a split second, I froze, when I arrived I hadn't noticed Kelly's car but now the Porsche stood out like a sore thumb. "Wait, what about Alia?" I asked, suddenly becoming aware of the quiet air. "Tony picked her up last night, I didn't want her to delay you," Kelly answered, sliding on some Ray-Bans.
I sat in the passenger seat, the leather moulding to perfection. Kelly put the key into the ignition and the engine purred to life, she shifted the gear into drive and soon we were flying across the roads. Kelly was obviously a confident driver, taking each corner smoother than the last.
After ten minutes, the Porsche slowed to a crawl. The school was massive. The glass structure seemed more intimidating than the hundreds of students shuffling around the parking lot. I was dumb struck, glued to the seat until Kelly shook my shoulder, "are you sure you want to do this? There is no rush," she asked, concern covering her usually calm complexion. The dull ache in my newly healed leg reminded me why I was here so I forced a small, weak smile and nodded, grabbing my bag and pushed the door open. I waved as Kelly pulled away then gulped as soon as I realised that I was now completely on my own - and lost. I took a few deep, cleansing breaths, when that didn't work I clenched my fists, "Right, doors tend to be a good starting point,"
I headed to the huge glass doors and made it through, incident free. I scanned the doors, seeing if there was a room that sounded remotely friendly .
Then the bell rang.
Hundreds of students flew through the doors, engulfing me completely. I tried to stay still but soon I was being shoved around like a pinball and soon enough, gravity took its toll. Luckily, a boy grabbed my arm before I fell to the floor and earned a snarky nickname for the year. He pulled me to the side and waited for the stampede to disperse before he finally deemed it safe enough to let go of me. "You ok?" He asked, a thick Australian accent coating his words. "Yeah, I'm fine, sorry, thank you," I mumbled , words falling over each other. He laughed and extended his hand, "I'm Ryan Tori, pleasure to meet you," I grabbed his firm hand and shook it, "Kai Alcides," I replied, blush creeping into my cheeks. "You look lost, I'll take you to the office, they'll know what to do with you there," Ryan said. I nodded and followed him through the many corridors until we got to a door labelled Student Office. "I'm afraid this is where we part," Ryan winked. I thanked him again and walked over to the lady sat at the desk.
