Michelle was a very observant person. She kept things to herself. She knew things about people that no one else would. She was quiet, sarcastic, and loved to draw people in a crisis. She didn't have friends, which in freshman year, she didn't mind at all considering that she liked to be alone.
However, now in her sophmore year of high school, Michelle started to realize that she kind of wants friends.
She doesn't want to be alone anymore.
That's why she signed for the decathlon team. Yes, she did do it last year, but only because it would look really good on her college application. This year Michelle wants to be on the team to make friends. She actually wants to interact with teens in her community.
And they could be a bit confusing, annoying, infuriating. Honestly, the list goes on.
For example, Charles and Abraham are so loud. Charles continuously shouts out answers that aren't even related to the question. Abraham has to ring his bell every ten seconds even when no questions are called out.
Sally and Cindy seem nice and sweet, but at the time, they don't seem like the type of girls Michelle would talk to. They both are constantly gossiping in the girl's bathroom. Cindy is considered the teacher's pet, and Sally has gotten more detentions than Michelle can count.
Flash Thompson... this guy is at the bottom of the list of friends that Michelle even considers having. He is always bragging about his money and verbally abuses his classmates. He needs no further explanation.
There are only two people that Michelle has ever been able to tolerate in high school. One of those people being Ned Leeds. Even though every conversation he has seems to be about Star Wars and he has a ridiculous amount of weird hats, Ned is a good person at heart. Just one look, and you could tell he was good. Michelle thinks it would be cool to be friends with him, but after calling him a loser (though she didn't mean it) at lunch, he probably isn't very fond of her.
Liz was intelligent, but unlike Michelle, she knew how to talk to people. She was kind, thoughtful, and the best decathalon captain Michelle ever had (the only captain Michelle ever had, but still). She would be cool to hang out with, but she was senior, and Michelle needed a friend who would be with her for the rest of her high school years. Also, Peter was totally crushing on her, and it made Michelle sick.
Speaking of which, he was the other guy that Michelle found tolerable. Peter. Parker. That guy was a mystery. Sure, Michelle had just a small crush on him since the middle of freshman year when he asked her for a pen in spanish class, but now, Peter has been acting a little weird.
In freshman year, he couldn't read what the teachers were writing on the board without his glasses. He was considered scrawny and weak to other people. He was clumsy and was always pushed around.
After the Oscorp field trip, everything changed.
Peter didn't to school for about a week. Ned said that Peter was really sick for some reason, which was fine. He came to school seeming a little different, but Michelle couldn't tell what it was. On fifth day that he was back, everyone was told that his uncle had died, and teachers wanted all the students to not talk about it.
So, us students saw how serious this was, and didn't mention it around him. Even Flash didn't bother to taunt Peter.
Everybody started acting normal around him after a week. Peter was the only one who seemed to be acting strange though. Not really acting strange, but he was definitely different. At first, Michelle thought it was just his uncle's death changing him, but that wasn't it.
Peter was almost a completely different person. He ditched the glasses and seemed to have perfect sight. His arms had a lot more muscle. He was still a dork, but he had a new confidence to him. Near the end of freshman year, he apparently got a internship with Tony Stark.
However, Michelle still doesn't understand what was up with Peter. Sophomore year started only a month ago, and he repeatedly skips on decathalon practices. Sometimes, he even skips class.
"Peter is not going to Washington with us."
Michelle looked over to Sally. Peter wasn't going to DC? What? Cindy and Abraham thought the same thing and asked him why.
Liz looks at Peter and asks, "Really, right before Nationals?"
"He already quit marching and robotics club."
Everyone looked over at Michelle confused as to how she knows this. Okay, poor choice of wording on her part.
"I'm not obsessed with him just very observant."
She stopped herself there. No reason to make her classmates question her more. Michelle wanted to ask Peter why. She wanted to get what was so important. Normally, she wasn't so interested in other people, but again, Peter was a mystery. An intriguing mystery.
Seeing how Flash is taunting him more about the Stark internship and how it isn't real (last time she checked though, Tony Stark didn't have any internships open) Michelle decided to wait to interrogate Peter when the time was right.
