After helping the team win the final point at nationals, Michelle thought that everything would be fine afterwards.

It wasn't.

Sonething happened while her team was in the DC Monument. Apparently, the elevator broke or something, and they almost died. Michelle decided not to ask them too much about it though. Everyone looked really traumatized. Good thing she didn't go in.

Luckily for them, Spider-Man came and saved all of them, which was weird. Why was he in DC when he was usually only in Queens? Speaking of which, where was Peter? He didn't come back until a few minutes before we were suppose to leave. He had shown up randomly asking if he had missed anything.

Everyone was mad at him for ditching, and the bus ride was awkward. Her teammates wanted to ask where he was, but they were too drained from the earlier events. Michelle wanted to ask him, but she would've broken the awkward silence and didn't really want to be the person to do that.

Skip a week, and finally, homecoming has arrived. Michelle decided to go, but she didn't have a date. She was fine with going to the party with her decathlon members. Still, it kind of would've been nice to get asked out (especially by Peter).

"Speaking of the devil", Michelle thought to herself as she saw Peter at the door.

However, something was off about him. He had a worried look on his face. He was standing outside as if he was afraid to come in. Liz was already inside. Is he having second doubts about asking her? Or is it something else? What was he afraid o-

"Oh shit, he's looking right at me."

Technically, he was looking at the whole group she was with (Ned, Charles, Abraham, Isabelle, and Cindy). Still, he was looking in her direction.

"Okay, just wave or something."

So, she stuck up the middle finger.

"Damnit."

Peter didn't seem to pay any mind to her action though. He just kept looking around. Finally, he walks in, and Liz goes up to talk to him. Michelle couldn't hear anything they were saying, but clearly, it wasn't good because Peter just left her. Liz was standing there, looking in shock and sad.

Michelle watched as Peter ran off. Cindy went up to comfort Liz, so Michelle decided to go up to her as well.

Cindy asked, "What happened Liz?"

Liz, with tears in her eyes, replied, "I don't know. He just said that he couldn't stay and ran off."

Michelle furrowed her eyebrows and was about to walk back to Ned to ask him if he knows what's going on. But, as she turned around, she saw Ned pulling out his phone and running to the doors that Peter had fled through.

She began walking thinking of all the possible reasons Peter could have left Liz. There was nothing wrong with Liz, and Peter had been crushing on her since the beginning of sophomore year, so why-

"Hey, you can't go through there."

Michelle turned around to see a teacher (Michelle never had her before) walking towards her and guiding Michelle back to where everyone was.

"I know we can't go there, but my friend just left through here. I was going to find him."

"I'll go find him, but you need to stay here for homecoming."

Michelle nodded and went back; however, she couldn't get Peter out of her thoughts. What was wrong? Did something happen? Does Ned know? The shear look of terror on Peter's face kept popping up in the back of her mind throughout the night.
