The Lost King of Overland

Chapter 1

Narrator

Once upon a time is how every fairytale should start. This may be a fairytale, but it's not the ordinary tale you'd imagine. This is how time was in the medieval days. When Kings ruled the world, and Magic lived.

Upon the hills that sing and through the lake of wisdom stood the great kingdom of Overland. A place filled of peace and hope. Every night seemed to be a holiday. People would sing and dance not having a care in the world who heard. They cherished the moments they had in that beloved kingdom of there's. In every kingdom there lived a Royal family. This royal family was a family everyone in the kingdom loved. They were not selfish and greedy for what they had. Instead the family gave and didn't take. They were thankful for what they had and blessed to rule a beautiful country. They were the Overland Family. King Jonathan. He was a mighty man with dark brown hair with muscles the size of 10 soldiers. He stood above his people with great pride. He made sure his land was a place of happiness. The king had a beloved wife. Queen Elise. A beautiful woman of golden brown hair with fair skin. She had eyes so blue that is was as you looked into the ocean. But what completed both the king and queen was there loving son. Prince Jackson of Overland. Even though boy was only 3, the king and queen knew he would be the great king and protect the people who looked towards them. Everyone in the kingdom was happy and filled with endless joy. For they felt they were in a guarded place were no one could get hurt. Or so they thought.

In the castle there was a man who went by Adgar Arendale. He worked with the king throughout laws and management. Adgar had a lovely wife named Idun and they had
a baby girl named Elizabeth. Adgar and Jonathan were like bothers. They were the image of perfect best friends. They had grown a love and promised to stick together and be friends forever. But some promises don't last forever. Consumed by power. Adgar became jealous of Jonathan and his rule over the kingdom. For he tho he was the rightful King of Overland. Adgar jealously got to him and thought of a plan that would change history.

Third Person•

The sound of heeled boots clacked across the cobblestone floors of the castle. Sir Adgar made his way into the hidden dungeon of Overland. He made his way down the steps into the dark. There in the dungeon stood a bell and the lake were the creature lived. Adgar ringed the bell to call for help. From the bottom of the lake the creature appears.

"You called?" He asked in a whisper voice loud enough to hear

"Yes." Adgar said

"And who are you?" He asked

"Adgar Arendale."

"Adgar. For what do you wish of me?"

"It's King Jonathan, for I do not think he is a proper king for this land."

"You think?" He asked again

"I Know. I know he's not the rightful king. I need to be the king of Overland. Please help me."

"You wish to be the king."

Adgar says nothing but looks at the creature with pleading eyes.

"Well then." The creature adds "You shall become King and I shall grant you power, but with a price."

"I'll do anything. Anything!"

"Bring me the royal family. Dead. If one is not complete you shall bring me one if you're family members. Dead."

Adgar froze. One of his family members. But he only if one didn't die. To save his family and be king. He would make sure the Royals died.

"Deal."

"You're power then my king." The creature then placed darkness in Adgar making him. Pitch Black.

That night a curse was placed on the kingdom making the palace guards turn against the kingdom. An outburst happened causing many to die. In the castle the family rushed through the halls to get to the boat out in the back. Jonathan held his son wrapped in a fur blanket while his other hand held his wife's shaking hand. They crossed through the secret passage making it to the dock.

"My love what's happening?!?" Elise asked frantically

"There's no time to explain you and Jackson must leave now." Jonathan said as Jackson watched helplessly

"Not without you." Elise said held onto Jonathan's arm with all her strength.

"I promise I'll make it. I love you." The king and queen shared a quick kiss before she started making her way to the small boat. Until an arrow went through the Queens chest. She turned around slowly looking at her husband and son one last time before falling into the empty sea.

"ELISEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!" The King screamed as Jackson saw his mother fall knowing he never see her again. The king turned around and saw a man completely black with bright yellow eyes standing towards the entrance of the dock

"YOU!! YOU WILL PAY!!" The King yelled and the creature. He placed Jackson down. "RUN SON!! RUN!!" Jackson hurried to the boat and it began to sail away from the dock into the deep fog of the night. He saw the last glimpse of his father before he fainted.

"YOU!!" FIGHT ME YOU COWARD BEAST!" Jonathan screamed from deep in his gut. Pitch Black and Jonathan fought and fought until the swords had clashed. The power in Pitch Black sword had transferred to Jonathan's making the magic 5x more powerful then before. A great explosive happened causing Pitch to turn back to Adgar and the sword which had gained power fell into the sea never to be seen again. The king was on his knees trying to breath from what happened. He looked out to the dark ocean and whispered,

"Elise. I love you. You are my whole world and I will be with you soon walking into the gates of Heaven. And Jackson if you're alive. Come back to Overland and restore the crown. You are the mighty king and will do great for this world even if momma and I aren't here. I'm sorry we won't be with you. But we will always look down on you and remember you're never alone. I love you son."

Adgar had walked up with a sword in his hand behind Jonathan

"Forgive me brother." And with that the king had fallen. Adgar was king. Not yet at least. For he realised Jackson is still alive which means a family member most go. But who, the infant Elizabeth or his Wife Idun. If Elizabeth died then Idun would find out who killed her child, but since Elizabeth is only baby and if Idun we're to die Elizabeth would never know. The king walked to his house to find Idun sitting in a rocking chair looking at Elizabeth in her crib.

"Adgar I was so worried." She stood up and ran to her loved one.

"Where were you? Adgar what's wrong? Adgar?" He only looked st her and began to cry hugging her close to him.

Adgar. You're scaring me." She said

"I love you." He whispered and pulled a dagger out stabbing the women he loved. She fell out of his arms making a thud causing Elizabeth to awake. He was now the King of Overland. He heard his daughter wail knowing her mother was no longer in the presence of her. Adgar picked her up and began hugging her close to him as the crying began to stop. Adgar was King. Elizabeth was the princess, and Jackson was missing.

Hey Guys Carol here! So how was the first chapter?????? Don't worry plenty more to come. So happy to publish this book. I hope you guys are excited for the next chapter. Those of you who have seen my profile know that I'm TERRIBLE at posting. Well I've finally changed that. I will TRY to have an update on books for you guys at least everyday.
