Chapter Three

Lark had soft blue hair and green eyes. He was built but didn't have as much muscle as those guys they advertise everywhere online. His smile made me feel warm and appreciated, even though all I knew about him was his name.

"You're new here, aren't you?" He asked me.

I nodded.

"Good. I need to tell you something and it would be best if you didn't have biased judgment, k?"

I nodded.

"First, do you talk at all, or are you just shy?"

I chuckled. "Yeah, I talk."

"Awesome. Now I need to tell you something and then I can answer any questions you might have. Ready?"

I nodded.

"I do archery. I'm probably the best archer you can find these days. I'm practically perfect, and I'm not bragging or exaggerating. I was blackmailed into working for Guiseppe, who's trying to destroy this place and Fiory. Everybody I know is against him, which means they're against me. But to be honest, I had no choice. So whatever happens, don't regard me as another monster. I'm begging you." He shut up.

"So what you wanted to tell me was that you're not the bad guy everyone thinks you are. You don't want me to be like everyone else."

He nodded.

"But why?"

"Because you're the first student they've enrolled in 8 years."

I changed the subject. "Now will you answer my questions?"

"Yeah."

"What's your shape?"

He laughed. "Why would you want to know that?"

I put my hands on my hips.

"I'm a bear." He said cheerfully.

"Do you know Sterling?"

"The snow lion?"

"Ya sure."

"Yeah."

"My shape is the snow rabbit. He got really angry at that and won't tell me why. He got somewhat abusive when I asked."

Lark suppressed a laugh. "Cuz he doesn't want to eat you." He said.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Cuz lions eat bunnies. What were you like put into his care?"

"I think so."

"Well, he's mad cuz he doesn't think he'll be able to keep control. He thinks he'll eat you. He was thinking of starting a relationship when boom! He's told you're lunch. How would you feel?"

"Not to good. Also, are there any girls in this place? All I've been seeing is guys."

"Well, that might have something to do with your being in the guys' dorm."

I blushed. "Can you maybe escort me away from here?"

"I'd love to, but your lion pal is about to burst in on us. See you around."

He did a little bow and kissed my hand. Then he was gone.

A few seconds later, Sterling burst in on me.

"There you are!" He hugged me. "I've been worried sick. I'm sorry about what I did. It was stupid. The reason I was upset was..."

"Because you didn't want to eat me." I finished for him. He pulled away from me and blinked.

"How did you...Who have you been talking to?!" His voice was filled with fury.

"Does it hurt your ego to know that I socialize with guys other than you? Guys that don't use abusive approaches when I ask them a question?"

He tried to slap me again but I backed up.

"Or maybe you see the charming boy that literally HITS girls he hits on, as particularly attractive?"

That shut him up.

"Take me to the Girls' dorm NOW." I said threateningly.

He grabbed my wrist again and dragged me through a bunch of LONG, dull hallways.

In what seemed like a month, he spat, "There!"

I didn't waste time. I shuffled in through the big double doors, but not before giving my lovesick predator a meaningful glare.
