Chapter Six
In the morning, I was woken up by excited yelps.
"Is she here?" I heard a girl say in a stage whisper.
"Yeah, but she's probably still asleep." Protested Addy.
Sighing, I swung myself out of bed. Opening the door, I commented sleepily, "Yeah, well I'm up now."
"Oh my god, she's perfect!!!" Cried some new girl I didn't recognize. Cautiously, she patted my head. "Just think!! Yesterday morning, she woke up as a swack, and now-" The girl seemed to forget that I was RIGHT THERE.
"Um, hello?" I tried.
"Hi, Yali!." The new girl said, as if seeing me for the first time.
"Uh, Yali, this is Shay." Addy said apologetically. "I tried to tell her you were asleep, but-"
"But I wasn't." I finished, for her. "Now, do you shape-ees have any new clothes, toothbrushes, and yeah?" I asked.
Addy slapped her forehead. "Of course we do! I forgot to finish your tour last night! Silly me!"
I ground my teeth together. MAN, happy people get on my nerves. HOW DO HAPPY PEOPLE ALWAYS STAY SO HAPPY?!?!?!
"You get the orange bathroom down the hall." Addy pointed. I trailed down the hallway, groggily, just as I heard Alice fly out of our room and transform.
The bathroom was huge, equipped for each animal in my room. It had a huge, walk-in bathtub, in case Addy wasn't in the mood to transform just yet, a little perch for Alice, and a really low shower handle, in case I was going to turn it on in bunny-form. But, seeing as how I had no idea how to bunnify myself, I decided to shower, as a human. To identify our toothbrushes and toothpastes, the things had little pictures of our transformation on them. I found the bunny hairbrush, and yanked it through my hair. Then I finished using the rest of the bunny-labeled stuff, and went back to my room.
"So tell me, Yali!" Shay ambushed me. "What is a lab-tob?"
I had forgotten that these people had probably come here YEARS ago, and when they came, they were probably too young to remember what things were.
"A laptop?"
"Yes, the swackish thing with the square buttons." She breathed quickly.
"Um, it's a small computer that you can open and close?"
"Con-pee-you-ter?"
I rolled my eyes. "Look, Shay. I'm not going to explain to you the technology that took over most of the world. Why don't you explain things to me about this place, because I'll be needing that information, and you WON'T be needing this."
"Yali?" Addy popped out of our room, holding something. "Your outfit's ready and on your bed. Hurry up and change so we can eat and get to Vinestown early."
I walked into my room and found a shiny, hot pink tank top lying on my bed, above a pair of mini shorts, and some high-heeled shoes.
"Cool!" I gasped, and quickly threw on the clothes. They fit perfectly. For a moment, I thought of asking Addy if someone had raided my closet, but decided against it. Then I remembered something I DID need to ask Addy.
"What about my parents?"
"Hm?"
"Like, do they know where I am?"
"Yeah, they received an i-mail, or something like that, this morning."
"You mean email?"
"Yeah, that's what it was. They got an email from a flattish open-up-able square thing that Fiory has."
I sighed. These people know NOTHING!!!! Honestly!
After me, Alice, Addy, and Shay got dressed and washed up, we left the (giant) dormitory, and went down a set of stairs to a huge reception room, half the size of the White House. It was also where the school ate breakfast on Sunday mornings.
