Chapter 1
His eyes flickered open. The vast, endless, dark-blue sky stared back at him from high above the clouds; the soft, long green grass danced to and fro in the breeze. Pieces of fluttering snow wafted lazily down to rest gently on his face. This was his safe haven. His arm twisted to watch the cold watch face as the long hand reached six. He stood up and began walking.

Then...he died.

Ao Lian was walking while he was reminisced about his soon-to-be successful life. A life where he was no longer looking after his dad's clinic and medical herb store, but where he could consider his future after his schooling in a top school. Could he become a CEO? A higher up of the Google corporation? Branch manager of Coca Cola? No, some unfair twist of fate made him sacrifice his short life of seventeen years for a cat. There was nothing special about the cat, in fact it looked so average you could mistake it for a normal cat, but what couldn't be denied was that it was not a normal cat.

The cat was simply walking along the sidewalk of the park next a construction site when fate decided to follow that 0.0001% chance, and sent a three metre piece of construction hurtling down at high speed. It wasn't Ao Lian's wish to save the cat, but nonetheless his body moved without command to shield the normal looking, but not-so-normal cat. Indeed, Ao Lian became a meat shield for a cat from the falling piece of metal. The cat managed to escape in the split second that Ao Lian's shielding provided for it. As Ao Lian lay under the piece of metal, bleeding from every part of his body, he entered the period of time when a shinigami would supposedly appear and take him to heaven while he regretted the past seventeen years of his life. His bitter internal screams could only be heard in his own mind as he staggered between the fine line of life and death.
'Child, you haven't left yet have you?' a voice calmly asked.

Strangely enough the voice bypassed his ears and went straight into his mind. It was a voice that Ao Lian could not associate with any that he had heard in his entire life. To start with, if he knew someone with such a nice voice, he would have manipulated them to join the showbiz world to extort money and fame from them. Secondly, no one he knew could speak straight into his mind.

A miserable 'No, I'm still here' came from his lips that blossomed on his face like a rose blooming in summer. A blood red rose. He looked up and saw that cat looking down at him.

'Child, for saving my life, I will give you a second chance at life, will you take it?'
Ao Lian then thought for a moment of every hardship he had ever suffered, all the good and all the bad.
'Sure, can I request a nice face, nice male body and bright mind?'
'It could be a bit difficult, but I can try to comply with that, mind you this though, you'll have to relive life from an infant'
'Wah! Tell me that before, cancel it. I cancel, I'll go to heaven or hell whichever comes first!'
'Too late, thank you and may we meet again, child.'

A/N I was 14 when I write this. It was my second book, and now that I'm faced with having to read it again, I'm squirming with discomfort. This one was requested, and it's a really, really old work, so it's not quite up to standard. I'm roughly editing as I go along, but no garuntees. Maybe I'll rewrite it one day. ><

14 year old Haku's mind: There's not enough historical Chinese BL in the world like FYJT, so let's write one like it!
